i really can't see much benefit of any G5 conference going above 12 teams, so I am thinking they just stand at 13 after UAB is shown the door.

I highly doubt that CUSA adds Ga. State. If they add 1 team (which I don't believe they will do) it will almost certainly be from the western part of the conference.

I would guess if they add 1 western team it is between NMSU, Louisiana or Texas St.

But I repeat I can't see why any G5 conference really wants more than 12 teams.

14 works much better than 13 and the finances work better also i'm pretty sure. ( travel cost alone may be worth the minor drop in CFP money between 13 and 14 teams, not to mention scheduling issues that happen with uneven number of teams) .

That being said, I think CUSA waits 1 year before they add anyone. they did 13 last year, and can swing 1 more year at 13 to get university leaders more on the same page.

I would think NMSU and Idaho are hoping the Belt loses a team. If Louisiana or Texas St. move to CUSA it probably makes it less likely that Idaho or NMSU are shown the door in football.

Go look on Panthertalk. Ben Moore found some statement from Hunter about not playing in the Sun Belt for much longer and is ready to run with it. Even said he's going to do a write up about it and reveal it to the world.

I'm thoroughly ashamed to admit to reading panthertalk, but things are slow around here.
