Beating a high school team 161-2. These Memphis board fans - your thoughts.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/23321...assive-win

... A girls high school basketball game in San Bernadino, California, that finished with a 159-point margin of victory (161-2) for Arroyo Valley High School over Bloomington High School Jan. 5 led to a two-game suspension for its coach, Michael Anderson.

He tried to slow the onslaught by benching his starters at halftime and telling his reserves to burn the shot clock before trying to score. A running clock isn't allowed until the fourth quarter under current high school rules....

... Chung still wasn't pleased with the lack of sportsmanship, though. He made his feeling crystal clear in a report from Pete Marshall of The San Bernardino County Sun.

"People shouldn't feel sorry for my team. They should feel sorry for his team, which isn't learning the game the right way," he said.

He also questioned Anderson's approach.

"I've known him for about seven years... He's a great X's and O's coach. Ethically? Not so much," he said. "He knows what he did was wrong."...

I saw that and had a 'discussion' with boy-person friend. He was very offended that Anderson was suspended. I was pretty blasé about the whole thing, but I am guessing there was more involved with Chung and Anderson.

The game was all but over after the first quarter and he was still pressing full court late in the 2nd quarter while up by over 100 point. Shouldn't have been suspended. Should have been fired. You do not continue to press full court while up by close to 100 points in the first half unless you are intentionally attempting to embarrass the other team. Not the life lesson his players should be learning. Sports used to build character, now it exposes it or the lack of it.

Before anyone attempts to defend him think back to how we felt when Freeze went for a late TD in our game after the game was won.

personally, i wouldn't be calling any attention to a basketball game where a team i coached only scored two points, and i certainly wouldn't be a titty baby about it. chung has no business coaching if his team can only manage two points.

That's what I kept saying too. Anderson must be an asswipe, or they wouldn't have handed down the suspension.

lol. That's exactly what boy said. Chung should not be coaching and his players shouldn't have been playing if they couldn't score more than 1 point per half. When I think about it, though, 1 point per half. That's just pathetic.

OK...I'm not gonna relive this. Carry on, though.

I saw this on the news, two or three months ago. Looks like a coaching problem on the losing team. The other team had to be dead.03-yawn

Other team should have held the ball to stall the game or learned to shoot/play defense. Games are played to win!

"The Arroyo Valley team has played one game without their coach and won against Indian Springs High School 80-19 on January 14. The Hawks were coached by Anderson’s 19-year-old son, Nicholas.'

Running up the score with the late TD? That was his choice. Karma will get him -- or it did (see TCU).

But we have a defense and they couldn't stop it.

Did we enjoy the 63 we put up against Austin Peay? That game was over before the half. Why even score at all in the 2nd half?

Yes. Any cheerleader should be able to score more than a player.

If you can only score 2 points AS A TEAM in an ENTIRE GAME, I would question calling them "players".
