Affordable beach house/highrise on the Gulf
I know we have been down this road before on here, but it's time to plan a May trip to the Gulf. We are looking for a convenient place on the beach for about 5 days for 4 adults and two 3-year-olds, preferably with a pool.

We are open to anywhere from Mississippi to the Florida Panhandle, driving distance from Memphis. White sand is a must. (Been to Biloxi, loved it, but brown sand? uh uh)

Thanks!

Went to Orange Beach last July. Awesome, not as crowded as Gulf Shores or across state line into panhandle.
Beaches were awesome, water was perfect.
We booked at last minute and stayed in one of the Phoenix properties. Very clean, not as ritzy as some of the newer properties, but we spent most of our time on the beach.

Imma let you in on a secret but you gotta keep it to yourself. You wanna stay on the beach in a nice condo with two pools, and you can spit and hit the water?

You go on VRBO.com and look up Orange Beach West. Look for the Palm Beach Condos. This unit is only 4 stories. Two buildings. One development between it and the State Park / Beach to the west. You got miles of undeveloped beaches to the west at your disposal.

1, 2 or 3 bedroom condos. I stay there almost every Oct.

You will not be disappointed in this place, trust me.

You can thank me later....

We prefer Perdido Key. It's quieter than Gulf Shores/Orange Beach, but very nice and close enough.

Turquoise Place in OB.

They have one of those lazy river things for the kids and all kinds of amenities (hot tub and gas grill on every balcony). Have no idea how much they rent for. They are extremely nice!

We're doing Orange Beach in June - I think the Palms is the name of the place - I don't know a thing about it, but since the in-laws are paying for it I'm not complaining. 03-wink It's right on the beach, I do know that.

We normally head to 30a. We stay a palms of dune allen. Low rise condos (3 Bedroom), houses on both sides so the beach doesn't get crowded. Been going there 10 years, tons of development in that time but the beach still doesn't get that crowded.

Stayed there this past summer.

Got one of the large units. Ran around 5k for 7 days. It was worth it. You could fit 12 people in that unit easily.

Had my 6 in it and had all the room in the world.

Nice amenities.

My parents own a place in Fort Morgan, Alabama....It's quiet and has a nice beach. I can highly recommend the area. I go about 6 times a year to the gulf coast.

VRBO is good as well as Poole and Associates

Family friend of ours owns a unit there so we've been a couple of times. He doesn't have it on the rental program and generally doesn't let anyone use it, but we've been lucky & he let us stay there for nothing. We've got a similar hook up in Destin (somewhere in Baytown) but never have used it.

That area down there is one of 2 places we're considering to retire to. Would love to buy me about 20 acres right outside of somewhere like Robertsdale or Summerdale and then have a small place at the beach. Close enough to go for the weekends, and I am enamored with the idea of living in a place where "going into town" means a place < 10,000 people.
