The New G5 conferences
I have been proposing this for months now. The G5 conferences need to come together and form 4 16 team conferences and the Top 2 G5 champions need to come together and play for the right to play in the Access bowl. My conferences goes as follows

AAC EAST
MARSHALL
CINCY
TEMPLE
NAVY
UCONN
ECU
UCF
USF

AAC WEST
WKU
MTSU
MEMPHIS
SOUTHERN MISS
TULANE
TULSA
RICE
SMU

MW MOUNTAIN
HOUSTON
UTSA
UTEP
COLORADO STATE
WYOMING
AIR FORCE
BOISE STATE
NEW MEXICO

MW PACIFIC
BYU
UTAH STATE
NEVADA
UNLV
FRESNO STATE
SAN DIEGO STATE
SAN JOSE STATE
HAWAII

CUSA EAST
ODU
UNCC
APPY STATE
GEORGIA STATE
GEORGIA SOUTHERN
FIU
FAU
TROY

CUSA WEST
SOUTH ALABAMA
ULL
ULM
ARKANSAS STATE
LOUISIANA TECH
NORTH TEXAS
TEXAS STATE
NEW MEXICO STATE

MAC EAST
UMASS
BUFFALO
KENT STATE
AKRON
OHIO
DELAWARE
JMU
RICHMOND

MAC WEST
MIAMI(OH)
BOWLING GREEN
TOLEDO
CENTRAL MICHIGAN
WESTERN MICHIGAN
EASTERN MICHIGAN
BALL STATE
NORTHERN ILLINOIS

I honestly feel this would be the best option to settle the G5 debate, let the teams just settle it on the field. Obviously the AAC and the MW would be the stronger of the 2 conferences each year. But if we just settle it on the field instead of the message board back and forth, College football would be enjoyable again

RE: The New G5 conferences
couple of observations-

- why does the person who creates these realignment ideas always put their favorite team in the conference with the biggest payout? every single time.
- why on earth would you want to add 3 more FCS teams, and why are you dumping them all in the MAC East?
- this doesn't settle anything "on the field". 16 is too large for a conference, teams will go 3 or 4 years between match ups. If you have 4 conference champs and the top 2 play each other for the access bowl then somebody OFF the field has to decide who the top 2 are. You haven't solved your primary objective, you've only made the problem worse.

If you truly want to give half of the teams in FBS a fair shot at a championship and to have everything settled on the field you're not going to do it in a system that creates Haves (P5) and Have Nots (G5). The only way to bring true equity to FBS is to get rid of these labels and have a playloff format where every conference champ is guaranteed a spot. Once you solve that problem then you can feel free to draw up conferences anyway your little heart desires.

That looks more like what non-power football will look like after a P5 split.

Maybe the reason that you have been promoting this for months, and it's failed to gain support, is that it's a personal goal shared by few. Could be the first hint.

because people with unfair advantages like keeping them. duh.

Yup. Hanging around in the same conference with Utah and TCU didn't even get BYU into the P5, let alone Wyoming and UNLV.
