Rocket B-Ball 2015 Offer (Charles Minlend Jr)
Verbalcommits.com is reporting that Toledo has offered Concord (NC) First Assembly Academy, 6-4 Guard, Charles Minlend Jr who is averaging 26.0 per game this season. His highlight video posted on verbalcommits.com shows a very athletic player who isn't afraid to shoot from long range or take it to the basket.

RE: Rocket B-Ball 2015 Offer (Charles Minlend Jr)
Hmm...I must have missed the e-mail...are we moving to a 6"4" and under league?
We have 2 "real" players on this current roster who are 6'7" or taller...and one of them will be a senior next season. Aubrey Williams was a project/gamble/experiment that isn't looking to be very productive, so he's not in the mix (neither is Aparicio). Next year's freshmen class only adds 2 players taller than 6'6". Most of this team has been built around 6'3"/6'4" types since Coach K got here.
I sure hope more good news is coming.

Stan used to say the MAC was a guard league. So much so he wasted Stempin in the post instead of playing on the wing
Wishful thinking. Maybe he has a commit from Caleb Swanigan. Dreaming still

That website shows Toledo with 12 outstanding offers for its one remaining scholarship. Unless A. Williams or Aparicio leave the program, eleven of those offerees will not be attending Toledo.

What planet have you been on. The Mac has been a 6'4 and under league for years. At least the last 50. I am too young to remember Nate Thurmond.

Yes, some people do say that. I respectfully disagree. Your key player may indeed be a guard but you better have some productivity at the low post.

RE: Rocket B-Ball 2015 Offer (Charles Minlend Jr)
re the title of the thread Minland, it's always tough to get a concise read on a player from a highlight clip, but he is a big guard who already has the size, strength and athleticism you hope for in a MAC wing. not a classic pure jump shot, but nice arch and it looks soft in the mid range. really like his footwork as a scorer. good leaper who seems to be an effort guy too. if you dig a bit there's some info on his other measurables; really good student (has an offer from yale), gym rat according to hs coach, and some local recruiting folks wondering why he is only a mid major recruit even though he has high major size and athleticism to go w grades and good attitude. who knows our chances, but I would like to see another scorer in the class.
as for the size concern. we lose 1 interior player this year and have signed 2, so there is an improvement. also note that our guard signees are both about 6-3, so good size there per position. i would think aparicio and williams won't both be around another year at the end of the bench. i wonder if a wiiliams will grad early and use his final 2 years at a smaller d1 school to get pt and a masters (the kid is a strong student who came to UT with college credits).
i don't see the program in any crisis, just frustrated that "our year" hasn't materialized so far. there's good talent coming back including a couple guys in boothe and j williams who have the talent to explode as they become more go to go guys. mac teams always feel like they are a big short of being really good. you gotta admire cmu for getting several promising bigs in their underclasses. they could be a juggernaut next year.

I understand where you are coming from but I would rather have a great 6'4" player (I don't know if this young man is a great player or not) than an average 6'9" player. You are not ever going to have many great players over 6' 4" in this league. Two of the best in the paint players in the MAC in the last 20 years. Gary Trent (I know he was listed at 6' 7") was 6' 5" at the tallest and Antonio Gates was 6' 4". I do not feel that coach K has brought any duds. Aubrey Williams being one of the worst and I think he can help the next 2 years as he is STILL one of the youngest players on this team. If you are bringing in alot of guys over 6' 7" players in the mac the 6'4 and 6' 5 guys will eat them for breakfast. If we have a class of 2 6' 4 guys that average 26 a game in high school we will win also of Mac titles.

RE: Rocket B-Ball 2015 Offer (Charles Minlend Jr)
Toledo has 1 open scholarship. It would be great to land a local kid. The transfer to Sylvania Southview Ben Casanova has them rated first in the state. The kid is 6 foot 6, can score and rebounds. It would be great for Coach K to land him He has a Lauf type of attitude. The last thiing we want is for Bobby Hurley to come on in and take away a Toledoan. It is bad enough that our recruit Justin Moss may now be the league's best player (except of course for Juice).
