I'm really confused on where this kid has been, etc. Pasco, WA, Houston, TX...

It sure sounds like him. Not great on offense but a shot blocking machine on the other end.

Tell me we stole another late summer kid like JT4 as we had a scholarship to give and he became available???

I'm not sure I would go that far. JTIV had a great list of offers before his troubles, where's his?

I'm trying to determine if he was always a 2017 kid or re-classified from 2018?

If so that could explain why he wasn't heavily recruited.

Nah, here he is signing his papers. Rob Murphy Tweeted it out.

https://twitter.com/robmurphyEMU/status/...0143299584

I think we got him because he was thought to be a 2018 recruit (e.g. prep school????) but opted to play college ball in 2017.

That's my best guess as of now. Very confusing. I understand the Pasco, WA but not the Houston 2018 bit on one of the links I posted.

I don't know if he was 'discovered' in spring AAU ball. Kids who are unsigned in April can play spring AAU ball where they are frequently discovered.

Just a note since we offered, this guy had a rush of offers:

6'9 F Kenechukwu Chukwuka of New Mexico JC has committed to Pitt. Will have 3 years to play

I don't know if it is the only time, but we need to go back to the media guides and look at the EMU MBB team of the early 90s (93/94?) which was loaded with frosh like Boykins, Dial, Nink, Head, etc. Probably one or two more. Plus Zajac was a transfer. I believe Dial was a redshirt.

Literally one group of newcomers put EMU on the MBB map.

Now the interesting thing is that all our new frosh sound like a total rebuild this year, but the opposite is true. We have a very solid, strong team of returning veteran players for 2017/18.

Jalen King reminds me of Nobles. Same type of build and game.

I'm curious what others think.

From what I saw (stats). Zero outside game. Basically good around the basket and loves to try and block shots.

I need to check Theron Wilson's stats and see if King is potentially one of the defensive players who loves to swat shots and gets some rebounds and runs the floor very well and will get some dunks.

Was told by a friend that this Detroiter is transferring from George Mason. Have NO idea which schools might be interested in him and if he is coming back to MI.

Skinny player but can play in the MAC. Announced today by Mason. Pretty late to be transferring. He was one of two such players apparently didn't like what they heard about playing time.

I understand we do NOT have any available scholarships for 2017/8.

Continue to be impressed with the recruiting energy of the two new assistants, lining up potential offers for 2019 in the que and the off season conditioning by the players. Not playing down with their potential but now playing up to their potential seems to be the trend.

Wooten is a big time recruiter. That should be obvious that he went 'coast-to-coast' with recruits from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

There have been successful D-I coaches (including head coaches) who basically were hired because of their connections in AAU ball and ability to recruit.

The hard thing for recruiting fans is that we have NO idea where his recruits will come from.

I would guess he has a lot more connections on the east coast than in the midwest and Michigan, specifically.

Hopefully Wooten is able to bring in kids who can play right away. Murphy's clock is ticking and his time may run out after this season.

Steve,

I saw some really tall young highschoolers going into the game that I assumed were Basketball recruits. O you know if we had any on campus?

Based on his tweets I believe Jones is now on campus. Hopefully we get an updated men's roster here shortly.
