2.4 ppg (28% FG) at Owens is a MAC prospect???? (did you look at their stats, etc. before posting?). Was coached by a former Toledo coach, Joplin. This kid should have developed a lot, lot further then that given his hoops background.

actually I do Steve but of course you have no comment on the other one Glover? Owens had a deep team so maybe the kid starts this year. Hard to tell with JUCOs many times there is a jump between the freshmen year and sophomore year. I love how you try to pan me every chance you get. This from a guy who has many EMU recruits becoming the next MAC superstar regardless of whether it is football or basketball. If I had a dollar for every guy you thought would be a superstar I could retire. I find it amusing that you would question MY evaluation of potential talent.

I wasn't trying to pan you, but I don't think you are very critical in your analysis of recruits, e.g., this one, Leo Edwards, etc. (Edwards played 5 minutes / game as a redshirt frosh and averaged 1 ppg).

Kind of like: He is from Owens and he is tall therefore he...

The rest of your comments about me are just blabber.

I can go to a high school game and evaluate talent, go to summer AAU ball, check stats, etc. and do a fairly good job for not being in the (basketball) business of knowing who is and who isn't a good prospect. (in the last 12 months I've seen probably a dozen h.s. and summer AAU games in Detroit and the D.C. area including Westland John Glenn, River Rouge, Muskegon as well as a bunch in D.C.). Might go to a spring AAU tourney Sunday. Missed the big Nike national AAU event in Hampton recently.

I've been following basketball recruiting almost 25 years (early 90s). By now I should know what I know and what I don't know... (or else I'm a dumb as a rock).

RE: 2016 Men's Basketball Recruiting
Its funny how some guys on this board wet all over themselves when we get transfers from other Div I schools who average 2-4 points before they came to EMU. Sometimes with increased playing time they improve like Bryant and sometimes like Samuels they don't. I hear alot of excitement over guys like Perry who averaged 2.4 points a game or Ajayi at what less than 2 per game?
I'm not doing to be critical of these players but as to point out there's lot of discussion by some on this board about players who don't even average 5 points a game.

Getting back to the kid from Owens that EMU Steve jumped all over me about Owens was a sophomore loaded JUCO team. I expect the kid I mentioned to have more playing time his sophomore year.

Hey even Toney who averaged 6 at Appy State, you think most people thought when he moved to junior college the next year as a soph that he would be a third team JUCO All American? It all comes down to playing time and opportunity.

RE: 2016 Men's Basketball Recruiting
I'll say how I evaluate our frosh and transfers for a four year career:

1). For frosh, primarily at PG, SG, and SF (primary scoring positions):

< 2.5 ppg - possible D-I washout or not in the 8 or 9 man rotation. Look for a lot of them to transfer 'downward' within D-I or to D-II.
2.5 - 5 ppg - probably member of the 8 or 9 man rotation during much of his career.
5 - 10 ppg - probable starters for a few seaons, if not a starter now. Possible All-MAC (e.g., HM or say 3rd or 2nd team).
10+ - Four year starter, All-MAC (1st, 2nd or 3rd team material before career is over).

2). For PF I relax the standards some, and centers a bit more.

Based on this table, Bond has potential to make an all-MAC team (e.g., HM or higher). Toney is also a probable starter and could develop into an All-MAC HM type player. Both based on their respective FROSH seasons.

I could add Madray in that group based on his two years at Binghamton.

Right on cue. My 'rating table' fits WMU to a tee:

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketba...an-broncos

Matasovic and Harris are gone. Dieng looks like a long shot to finish his career to WMU.

Wilder and Lamont will do well. Wilder could star. Lamont will have to fight off Dugan to remain a starter, though. Lucky WMU. (can we trade a player to WMU for Lamont? Lol).

RE: 2016 Men's Basketball Recruiting
Back to 2016... (fast forward?):

1). I believe Leo Edwards (La Tech - Romulus) is going JUCO at Schoolcraft - had a redshirt year + a year with very limited PT at La Tech. He needs to see the court and PT. Not sure I see him at EMU. I believe he is a collegiate PF, not a Center. (see comment below about PF and C).

2). Jalen Martin, Jordan's brother, has visited MSU for football. We'll see how things play out...

3). Saw the name 'Kyle Hayes' PF, 2016. PF would be a surprise to me: Madray, Wofford-Humprey, Nobles... I could see two scholarships both going center...

As of now, we'd have two scholarships, Nazione and Samuels, to give. Man that would be a sloooooow recruiting season next year. Enjoy 2014/15 with five scholarships given.

Excellent article on Jordan's brother, Jalen:

https://michiganpreps.rivals.com/content...ID=1763615

Will be heavily recruited at least at the MAC level for both basketball and football.

This should be fun as the Martins and Murphys go back many years. Jordan wasn't recruited off of a Steve Bell tip or Tweet... Lol.

I'll make a wild guess, that at EMU, maybe Jalen will be recruited solely as a basketball player. I'm not sure CC wants to recruit Jalen if Murphy wants to recruit him for hoops. Don't need one coach recruiting against another coach in house... That's a no no.

Of course, I could be dead wrong on Jalen's recruitment: CC has offered him as a WR.

"Chandler Parks 2016 WR Jalen Martin was re-offered by Eastern Michigan's new coaching staff today. @Goals_1 "
