I know that football recruiting is fluid, but unfortunately, TC missed this big time (I believe TC stated that Johnson was a heavy lean). Nobody said it was gong to be easy to retain Memphis area 4* players, will take several years of winning records and bowl games. 1 year down and probably 3 years to go to lure some of these kids in.

Acutally, being in Texas....I have no idea who he is or why it means anything to me. We recruit outside of Memphis don't we?

He visited Mizzou this past weekend and got blown away...It happens, He was sdue to visit us next weekend but liked what he saw at Mizzou....It happens some....We will have a few surprises and are in really good with Jared Gentry and still lead for Darrell Henderson....This could open the door for Leonard though....The World Is Ours Memphis....

Maybe we can change his mind during his visit? Perhaps Sam Craft, Kewoine Malone, Mark Dodson, and Ryan Mack can give their perspective of being a local kid an wearing Tiger Blue. The latter three have played in the SEC and ACC. They understand the realities of the hype and depth of these programs. Johnson would be a great pickup at a much needed position.

We just need to understand his NEEDS vs the opportunity. He may want to try to live somewhere new? There is a lot to be said about new adventures as a young man. They contribute towards personal grow and maturity. As a parent, college is the first major opportunity your child has to practice the skills you've taught them completely on their own. As a fan, I want all top local talent to stay home.

These are exactly the types of recruits I am hoping we start to keep home. Maybe he goes to Mizzou and turns into a solid player and gets PT. But look at more talented players that left and didn't see the field...
