Have you actually looked at the AAC lineup? There is no team screaming out from that list. If it is not for Uconn basketball, no one would know much about the AAC at this point. Face the reality - you are no better as a conference than CUSA and it showed this year that CUSA is a better footbal conference than the almighty AAC.
Ok, I just want to make sure I understand you. Are you saying no one has ever heard of Temple,Cincinati,Memphis , or even Houston basketball ? Are you also saying that UCF,Cinci,Navy,or ECU have no football recognition. You might want to check the record books.
Temple- Known for Thug Coach John Chainey, Bad Bad Football and the only school kicked out of a BCS conference because of lack of attendance and on the field success, Also known for Puddin Pops Bill Cosby.
Houston- Known for Phi Slamma Jmma, by the way those who played in the Phi Slamma Jmma days are in their mid 50s now.
Cincy- Known for having the drunk of all coaches in Bob CHuggins, who is drinkin' it up in MorganHole now.
Memphis- Known for having 2 count them 2 FINAL 4s taken away because of ineligible players playing. And at least 1 coach knowing the player was ineligible.
ECU sucks at almost everything besides football and baseball every few years, but then again we know that they can even suck at that too.
UConn- Just crying like a baby because they got "stuck".
You need to check your fact bud. Swimming and diving is nationally ranked, as is track and field both indoors and out, Softball is good, baseball is top 50, WBB is doing fine, men's and women's golf are making national finals.
I'll give you that. I grew up in eastern NC so I'm pretty familiar with ECU athletics.
Folks need to come to grips with the fact that, at least so far, the AAC isn't the panecea some thought and CUSA isn't the doormat some thought. It's only been a couple of years so time will tell how it all turns out.
Most that said it was the panecea they were looking for are banned. Most now throw barbs back and forth. There are a few from each side that take it a bit far. Thus, you have threads like this and it's clone on the AAC board.

Wasn't the sun belt the #1 G5 last year? Where are they now? I don't see anyone clamoring to crown them for their accomplishments, even though they were #1 not #2

this is about the pack of 7 conference talk, not the gang of 3.

This thread is silly. We're not better than the AAC. It will take a lot more than 0.4523 Sagarin points to change that. In fact, it won't change, because the conference pecking order doesn't change. /discussion

I think the conference pecking order for the G5 is very much in flux because nobody other than the schools/fans in the G5 care. It will take some time for Sun Belt to break out of the bottom perception spot, but the other 4 are basically equal in the mind of 85% or so of college football fans who follow the P5. We who follow this closely know that as things are right now, most years the MW or AAC will likely be the top of the G5 based on history, but that can certainly change. CUSA and the MAC have strong brands and history. More so than the AAC even since it's new and has no brand other than what the schools bring to it individually. The average football fan, coach or recruit couldn't tell you much at all about the difference between the AAC and the MAC or CUSA. They might tell you about the difference between ECU and FIU, but thats different. Because of this there is plenty of parity in the G5. Probably more so than in the P5 which makes it even more fun because anyone can beat anyone on a given day. Its not like that in the P5.

The pecking order remains the same as far as which conference can take from the other. AAC can take from C-USA. MWC can take from ???, has yet to be determined. C-USA can take from SBC and FCS. MAC can take from FCS and ???, yet to be determined. SBC can take from FCS.
This thread was for the just completed fb season on the field performance. C-USA rated better than the AAC, MAC and SBC this year. Period. Who knows what next year holds. The good news for C-USA is that the pre-season "let's crap on C-USA" perception proved to be wrong.

Plenty of people care about basketball at Memphis, Cincy, UConn, and a few other AAC schools. Hell, even Memphis football is a pretty decent draw, as is UCF football. We have our little core of fans, but nothing like those schools.
That said, we did have a good football season.

1.364 million per team > 1.143 million per team
And apparently the AAC is doing less with more.
