Also, BC fans will tell you that it doesn't benefit them at all to play a school like UCONN.

Did you see the South Carolina-Clemson brawl a few years back that was so bad that both schools decided to forfeit their bowl bids???

There's a HELLUVA lot of bad blood between South Carolina and Clemson. It's an old conference rivalry from when South Carolina was in the ACC. My only point is that "bad blood" is not the reason not to play.

That's exactly why. BC views it as a game where they have nothing to gain by winning but a lot to lose if they get beat. They see themselves as the big dog in New England and won't jeopardize that perception. However, if somehow UCONN ever gets an invite to the B1G, I'm sure the game will happen, and wouldn't be surprised if it were BC that initiated the discussions.

Between 1893 and 2009, Tulane played LSU 98 times, the rivalry stopped (just like why BC won't play UConn) because LSU had nothing to gain + would rather schedule some bum to get their own gate rather than help Tulane by playing in the Dome. It's messed up but personally TU really has to look at ourselves (partially) for sucking so bad.

I'm glad that rivalry is dead. Tulane needed to move on.

Also, keep in mind that Tulane also would not take measures to help keep the rivalry alive as well. The BR crowd claims that Tulane were apparently being stingy during negotiations and wouldn't cave on anything.

I'd rather play them but not if we are getting blown out every year.

That's your problem. 07-coffee3

Pitt/PSU used to play on Black Friday every year to end their respective seasons but that ended.

Pitt/WV was another "East" rivalry that I miss and will never permanently be renewed.

This is another casualty of conference realignment.

Like a said...the bad blood in addition to BC feeling like it does not benefit from the series is the reason they will not play.

I don't play for TU FBall nor do I get to decide how the admin approaches athletics.

What is the relationship like as far as Bball, I thought they had or are scheduling games.

We only played last season because we were in the same preseason tourney. The last regular season game was in 2005 (when both schools were in the Big East). UCONN leads the series 55-35 all-time. The only way it'd be worthwhile for UCONN to play them in basketball now would be if they would schedule us for football. (And that's probably why nothing has transpired.)

I think I speak for everyone in the AAC when I say that we would LOVE to have a perennial national contender as a rival (Ohio State, Univ of Tenn, Univ of FL, FSU, UNC, Penn State, Univ of Texas, Texas A&M, Univ of Okla., etc.) . Maybe you should be more vocal toward TU Football and the administration. 07-coffee3

You have no idea, TU leadership is one of the most insulated in the country. Our AD once said when confronted with negative thoughts on him and/or the program (and I paraphrase) "If you don't like it, you can walk across the street". It's all a mess but seems to be improving a bit.

Hell one of our larger fansites routinely bans alumni/fans for complaining.

This is relatively "ancient" history at this point, but when VTech, Miami, and BC first left the Big East, there was a movement among (especially the remaining original) members to boycott playing those teams that had departed. That broke down particularly between ND and BC, but I suspect that part of this might also be BC saying, in effect, "The shoe is on the other foot now."
