On Sunday, Becky Wade will be competing in the USA Half Marathon Championships in Houston. It will be a stout field, and her goal should be a top-5 finish. This 13.1 is just a tuneup for a marathon in the near future.

At the halfway mark, there appears to be a large pack about 25 or so seconds up on her. (at 10k she was 22 seconds back and was 12th place on the road, 1st runner outside of the lead pack)

As the leaders pass Westheimer going up Montrose, the lead group has absolutely shattered. There are 4 or five still up front and they're distancing themselves from Becky and others. Meanwhile Becky is about to start passing those dropped. (Mind you, this is all from watching stick figures on the map, so take it for what that's worth.)

As they turn onto Allen Pkwy (17.8km), there were 5 in the lead pack. Becky was still in 12th, and was about 370m off the lead. 6-12th were all strung out.

At 20k, Becky was in 11th, 14 seconds back of a top 10 finish

Winner is in at 1:09:44

Becky in at 1:12:18 unofficially, 11th place, 6 seconds back of 10th.

Here, BTW, is how the stick-figure race looked with about 2.5k to go. Because I'm zoomed out, it doesn't show all the labels of runners between Wade and the leaders, but it gives you some idea of what things looked like, at least from Austin.

From the start of my race commentary at the midway point, Becky passed 2 runners and was passed by (who ended up finishing 8th).

Joe Karlgaard is at 30K and running 7+ min miles
Lisa Thompson is at 25 K and running 8+ min miles (a warm up race for her for the Boston marathon)

nice to see some leaders in the Athletic dept in good enough shape to run 10Ks and marathons. Guess ol' JK will be ready for the upcoming Navy Seal training in Year 2 of the MRM (Mike Rhoades Monarchy!!)
