Well I wasn't able to watch the game but followed the score. And I can also look at stats, not just the individual game but look back over the winning streak that ULM has put together. If you do that then perhaps you can come away with a different perspective, as opposed to ULL gave the game away. During this 6 game winning streak, ULM has held opponents, on average, 6.86% below their FG percentage. In all but one game (UTA OT game) ULM held teams below their average points per game. Rebounding was sort of a wash with a split between more/less based on averages but overall a net -1.8 rebounds per game over the 6 game stretch. On average, ULM is holding opponents to 2.68 fewer assists per game. And it isn't that ULM is shooting lights out. A bit up and down per game but only shooting just over 45%, about .5% higher than season average.
One game I will give you. A 6 game stretch split evenly road/home then I would say it is something in match ups and defense that ULM is doing. Not saying we are the class of the SBC. Not saying this is going to last. Just pointing out that over this win streak there is something that ULM has done that is causing problems for opposing teams.

I was trolling the UL fans who spouted the same crap after their game with GS. I don't believe they gave you that game, nor do I believe they are the 2nd best team in the belt.

Fair enough. At least got me motivated enough to look at the streak a little bit closer. Got two home games coming up Thursday and Saturday. Got UTA Thursday night then Ga Sou Saturday afternoon. Should be a couple of good games.

no doubt. You guys have earned your spot at this point. I'm just praying to god GS learns how to shoot free throws and stops shooting 3's so much when we aren't good at it. lol

He's an emotional player; it has its ups and downs. The tech vs. UTA may or may not have been warranted. It isn't ridiculous to think that his reputation precedes him with the refs, and it did seem to be just for celebration that wasn't that intense. On the other hand, it had been building for a while; he really responded when Ware went down, and yeah, he talks a lot sometimes. There are definitely times he needs to get control over himself, but there's no doubt his emotion drives him, and there are worse things to get T'ed up over than getting pissed about the treatment of a teammate and getting fired up when the momentum swings to your team.

Teams are what their records say they are. ULM played a very nice zone and did a good job of disrupting what the Cajuns wanted to do. The Cajuns won lots of the stats in the game but when you shoot 32% and 2 for 18 from three if they hadn't done so well on all the other things the game wouldn't have been as close. That being said, there were a number of uncontested mid range and three pointer as well as some inside three feet that weren't made.
Before the last two games, we had four guys shooting over 50% from the field. The second half of the South Al game and all of the ULM game we shot about 33% as a team. It's a little odd when all your perimeter shooters go into a funk at the same time. I don't think this will continue (at least I hope not). As we've all discussed, and I'm sorry to have it this way, the conference is a one bid league. We're all shooting to qualify for the tournament and hopefully with a one night bye. As with records, it is what it is.

I know we are ineligible this year (APR issues thanks to a former Tar Heel of course), but I believe the App program will be fighting for the conference championship in 2 years. What Jim Fox has done with a roster of limited experience and talent is remarkable especially knowing he is limited on practice time this season. Next year we will be without Spagnolo so I imagine we will be just outside the top level, but if we can sign a good prospect at Center I don't see any reason why we can't challenge the top teams in 2016.
As for this year I'm just excited to see us playing hard as a team and getting tough fought wins when we can. anything close to .500 will be a win.

We played pretty good against south al and lost, they played better. We didnt play well against ulm and lost. The seahawks played like crap Sunday and won. The outcome isn't always directly correlated to how you played. It's a pretty simple concept.

The Georgia State team I saw yesterday will not win this league. Now admittedly, it's a very different game with Harrow on the court, but outside of the first couple minutes, Kevin Ware was quiet. RJ Hunter tried to do way too much as usual, and didnt take control until he started attacking the basket and abandoning the 3 late.
Realistically, if the Panthers were playing a legit basketball team yesterday, and not our lovely group of misfits, they would have lost, probably by double figures. Thankfully the chief Misfit, absolutely refuses to teach how to attack a zone defense. (Been this way for 7 years, why no one else plays zone against us, I'll never know) so the Panthers got to sit and watch while a bunch of poor outside shooters shot 3 after 3, completely ignoring the all conference caliber talent we have down low.
I see the potential there, but the best team we've seen at the convo this year remains Georgia Southern. I'll get a look at ULM and ULL in February and March and will be able to answer more on them then.

The fact that John Brady called that a moral victory is absolutely disgusting.

Wait, what? A moral victory for beating the transfers on our team? I hope our kids don't see that; we don't need anything else undeservedly and unnecessarily inflating egos...

That's what he pretty much said. He talked about how well we played, how we were one or two shots from beating a very good team, and blamed it all on the fact it was our 3rd game in 5 days and players were tired.
