Our society places too much value on sports.

So much of what goes on in college sports now is just pure silliness, but it's all because people are obsessed with it.

Folks need to get a life and maybe college sports, all sports for that matter, will once again become reasonable in their place in our society.

Sorry.....rant over.

Saw that story yesterday. Ky spent around $800,000 for the trip.

For comparisons sake, how much did we pay for the Canada trip, or past years trips to other areas? Cannot remember, we went to Puerto Rico?

Canada less expensive for sure but maybe $60,000?

You realize how much college and professional sports helps various downtown economies in the US, right?

Sure, but what does that have to do with it? Folks still place way to high of a priority on sports in relation to other things. Do you think coach's salaries make sense? I don't......but it's what consumers are willing to pay. I happen to think it's out of control.

What about news anchors that make $13,000,000 per year? Is it ok for Justin Beber to make $50,000,000 in one year? Are entertainers salaries out of control also?

I agree about Beiber, but that's not a salary, that's what the demand is for his concerts and record sales/downloads.

News anchors have earned their way to the top and will be axed if the viewers and sponsors aren't there to justify that expense. LOL, my Dad was a broadcaster and talked me out of the profession because there was no money in it.

.

You can say the same kind of thing about high level college coaches.

There really isn't unless you're one of the top personalities.
