RE: Finally some good news for USM baskeball
Applicable news coverage:

http://blogs.hattiesburgamerican.com/the...ball-team/

http://blogs.hattiesburgamerican.com/the...en-eagles/

If we can take everything at face value, the kid made a dumb decision out of selfishness and has now realized the error of his ways. If so, good for both Sadler (for letting the kid walk) and Millinghaus (for growing up and making amends).

If it's just a matter of Millinghaus not being able to find somewhere else to catch on, well, I don't really have a problem with that, either. He needs a place to play and we need more bodies, and he's not likely to complain again about the position he's asked to play if he's discovered it's either do that or not play at all anywhere.

Either way, I can only hope Millinghaus will serve some sort of penance for walking out on the team for a month.

this is where we differ.....I know we need bodies.....however, this is body bag central type thinking from the leadershite....

edit: ladner obviously understood.....he hasn't forgotten how 'we' used to tango and what it takes to dance...

fk these two idiots.....

I have been solid about why they left.....

to accept either back is.....

....what's up Doc (wtf are you thinking?)

I am embarrassed to admit I went to southern miss at this point......

Well, Doc only allowed him back after he let the team vote on it. The team voted unanimously to allow him back. I'm sure there was good reason to. We don't know the whole story. Just know that Millinghaus requested to meet with Doc, and asked if he could come back. Doc said no at first. Millinghaus was persistent, and met with Doc 2 more times. Final result was Doc said he would allow him back if team wanted him back. Hence the vote by the team.

I'm at a loss.....

I don't care what the real story is....it's irrelevant in my book

I have zero faith in any coach at the hs level and above that would allow this.....

these kids aren't grade school tykes.....

I'll open up and give you a personal tidbit of insight.....and it's my most painful and best lesson about playing sports as a youth....

Dixie Youth baseball.....I am 10 yrs old....I bat clean-up in a 9-12 year age group....and I was only average size at that time....

I'm in a batting slump over a handful of games.....

my brain snaps mid-game.....it's my turn to bat.....nobody can find me.....I just walked away.....and had no clue where I was going....

It's easily the most embarrassing moment of my life.....

Coach had me apologize to the team before I could come back....(I'm leaving out the conversation he and I had before that moment....yeah, I was crying tears of many shades)

again, I was 10, and was viewed as a team leader playing with 11 and 12 yr olds.....it defined the moment that I knew I was human, defined the purest of weakness, and taught me the definition of humility.....

you learn a lot being involved in athletics at a young age......and I played 'em all

I can't imagine doing that at 20.....mill obviously never learned that lesson....that I can deal with....Doc flip-flopping? I cannot!

when you get dumped or you do the dumping.....you don't go back at that age....you only look like a pu$$y at that point....Doc looks worse.....

as always, it's only one opinion.....

Yeah, that's just what being on a team is about. I've fallen short in that respect, and eventually just gravitated to individual sports. If you're on a team, you've got to go to every practice... doesn't matter if it's drizzling, or you've got a doctor's appointment, etc. And I was in LA, where summer practices, and even off-campus, overnight training camps were allowed and even the norm. You have some inkling of what I'm like, and we both probably know I'm not up to the challenges of team sports. My baseball highlight reel doesn't escape the batting cage. But I can imagine the kind of feelings this dude's exit/return must have provoked, and yeah... the return part is very atypical.

Sadler said post-game that Millinghaus is benched for the rest of the season unless "a couple of injuries" necessitate otherwise.
