RE: Lady Bucs 2014-15
So why are they having the one big draw game of the year (Chattanoga) as a morning weekday game? Do they want to make sure no one is able to come?

I agree. I didn't realize this until yesterday. I had planned on going to my first Lady Buc game ever on Monday, then heard that it was a 11:00 game. I do support the concept of an educational game to bring in kids, but make that a different game.

RE: Lady Bucs 2014-15
Honestly, when the schedule was made, few people probably expected such a good conference run for them. They probably thought the only chance of a really good crowd for UTC was to do it with bussed in school kids?
If you can't deal with the kids or the time of the UTC game, they play Furman at home on the 9th at 7pm.

I guess if they are planning to bus in school kids for a crowd that will work but even if they didn't think ETSU would be any good, Chattanooga is always good. They travel well and enough old timers are around they might have come out to see an old rival. Seems like if there was ever a game to schedule for a weekend afternoon game this would have been it.

I have zero interest in watching ETSU v. Furman. It takes a special situation for me to watch women's basketball. Them being 6-0 in the conference playing a top 25 opponent is a special situation.

It's school day. There's supposed to be like 1800 kids there.

RE: Lady Bucs 2014-15
Now at 17-8 and 9-1 in conference play after taking down Western Carolina by 51-40 at Freedom Hall Saturday afternoon.
Did anyone go to this game? I've been to one men's game at Freedom Hall when they played Chattanooga back in February, I liked the overall atmosphere there. How many people showed up for this game today?
With four games left in the regular season, I don't see them taking down Chattanooga, but I'd say they have a better then 50% shot at winning the remaining three games before they play the Mocs again.
Add on a win or two in Asheville, and this team might have a shot at the Women's NIT perhaps.

Lady Bucs 2014-15
I went to the second half!
Was impressed with Ezell. Passion! And she is positive with her girls. She makes me want to storm the gates of Mordor...which I suppose is exactly what a good coach is supposed to do.
Solid victory for the Lady Bucs. Looking forward to seeing them wade through the tourney in Asheville.

The ladies had a very solid win on the road yesterday at UNCG. 10-1 in the SoCon now.
Big game on Saturday against #3 Mercer here at home in Brooks. Last home game this year too.

I was at the Dome for the Home and Garden Show over the weekend when the ladies were leaving for UNCG... not only are they good basketball players, but they are a group of fine young women who represent the University well... they make us proud!!!!!!

RE: Lady Bucs 2014-15
The ladies do it again with a huge victory over Mercer today. So happy for such a big blowout on Senior Day!
With that win, Bucs clinch 2nd place for the year in the SoCon. I'd love to see them beat the Mocs next Saturday. Still won't get us up to 1st, unless Samford or Mercer pulls off a win against them too, but a gal can dream...

RE: Lady Bucs 2014-15
Fantastic team, fantastic game today. A 21 point win over a good Mercer team. Notice that their 6-5 center didn't intimidate us??? I love it. We will sooo miss Serena Clark, Maria Bond, Destiny Mitchell & Cara Bowlling. What a great senior class. If they can't get past UTC, I hope they get an NIT bid. I honestly believe, after what I saw today, they could give UTC a run for their money in Asheville.
However, for next year, she has two great talents: Tianna Tarter who is one hell of a point guard, & Shomauria Bridges, a catch & shoot shooting guard. Chandler Christopher compliments them very well and will provide some nice leadership next year. She has to fill the 4 and the 5, and it sounds like she has some recruits that will do that, plus what she currently has with Kendrick, who looks physical. I think she has a nice core of players, and although they will be a bit younger next year, give them time, and by the time they hit the league schedule they should compete.
I know the "jury is still out" with Ezell for some. It's quite clear for anyone watching she has done a fantastic job with a team that, when she inherited it, was in complete disarray.

I'm prepared for the possibility of a loss at UTC. Personally though, I'm hoping that they can pull off a win against Samford at least. While the change to pick up another win or two at least in the SoCon is more then likely, I'd feel a lot better about their chances for post season play if they could get that 20th win in during the regular season.

RE: Lady Bucs 2014-15
Let's hope the terrible outing against Samford is out the Lady Bucs system. This may be the worst they have looked all year being down by 24 with 2 minutes to go. I hope they don't play Samford in the tournament. If they do, the Lady Bucs need a completely different strategy against the Samford zone and Princeton style Samford offense.

RE: Lady Bucs 2014-15
It may seem crazy to blame a 23 point loss on one possession, but the last 8 seconds of the first half went a long way in winning that game for Samford.

RE: Lady Bucs 2014-15
One of the big problems I saw was Samford's defense was just really making our shots not fall. Super low 3 pt average and they were stealing it quite often when we'd get in the paint. Then add in the fact that Samford was hitting 3's like crazy.
Very sad to see the loss, and such a big one. Hopefully they can shake off whatever happened by Saturday.

All comes down to seeding. Hopefully Samford will end up on Chattanooga's side of the bracket.

So we all root for Mercer on Saturday. Keep them at #3 and let Chattanooga take care of Samford in the tourney.

Yes. At least an appearance in the finals for the women will create a few warm fuzzies. If for some reason they pull off the miracle and beat Chattanooga, I'd say we can say sayonara to Ezell.
