RE: Waldo Enhancements?
This is a great idea that will never happen...I'm pretty sure there is a state law prohibiting the sale of alcohol at college sporting evens...

Anyone have any thoughts on this? I know lots of people drink before the games and we used to smuggle our drinks in during college. I am all for it, if it generates more money for the athletic department and keeps fans at the games. They could incorporate a nice bar/deck and designate an adult section.
Down here in North Carolina, NC State lets fans leave at halftime to drink more and return with a stamp on their hand. Problem is, they usually don't return for the second half.
Its funny you said that. The first time I went to a Toledo game, at halftime there was a mass exit. I was thinking to myself...where is everyone going the game isn't a blow out yet? Then I realized they let their fans go back to the parking lot and open up their tailgates. They also sell beer, think it might be one of the only MAC schools that does sell.
The Glass Bowl in Toledo is owned by the city which allows them to sell beer and wine, is my understanding.

cover the turf in the Seelye Center and make it a huge beer garden/tailgate area. Sell vendor spaces to Kalamazoo/West Michigan breweries and restaurants. Small cover charge to get in, plus what ever you spend on food and beverages. Cheer team, band, etc for pre-game festivities. Post game interviews.
Imagine being able to be tailgate indoors during November?

I agree. Western should try to partner with Bell's. Folks outside of Kalamazoo love that stuff possibly more than folks in Kalamazoo. Give them exclusive rights in return for something in the stadium (bar or bars) and split profits. Support the local guy and differentiate from Michigan and Sparty. Hell, I think a nice apparel place in the stadium would be nice as well. It's all about the experience for the casual fan. Most of us on this board would go to games regardless of the circumstances. We are the minority.
Coach Fleck might be more inclined to partner with Boatyard.

I propose, The Old Foggies section. If an old foggie yells at someone for standing up, security will instantly remove that person from the stadium. So for those rabid fans like Hiller4Heiz who like to stand and cheer, the old foggie need only go, "Damn it, sit the hell down!" A WMU police officer will be on the scene immediately to remove the offender from the premises.
No Standing No Cheering Allowed
Will we need to have foghorns? Or is it an old fogey section?

I say of the two "grassy knolls" on the one side of the field, turn one in to a small Bells with a deck overlooking (and seats underneath) -- and on the other side, a Hooters with a deck. The student section is on the other side and they're under 21, but they're drunk already anyway, the core student section should stay -- especially with the Hooters girls to oggle at from across the stadium!
