RE: La Tech Thread
We've definitely seemed to turn a corner. This team looked really, really bad for a while. We can only hope the improvement continues. Losing to USM, even on the road, would be a regression for this team after starting 3-1, IMHO.

RE: La Tech Thread
After Southern Miss we go through the gauntlet. The good news is we actually have a good chance to win 5 or 6 out of the last 7 games going into the conference tournament. 1 game back after the first four games is a welcome sight. I think the top 5-6 teams will be very competitive, and after seeing each team through 4 games, I don't think this league is a runaway for ODU, La Tech or UTEP like I once thought.

I just noticed that La Tech beat UTEP in El Paso by 13. That's a shocker.

Lack of maturity doesn't usually help depth issues. Mistakes become contagious. Underclassmen foul more when they are tired, and young big men aren't strong enough to be viable late in games. I can see this group going on a rollercoaster rest of the season. Win one, lose two, win two, lose four, win 3, lose 2....plus winning and losing games they shouldn't.

It'll be interesting on 2.5.15 when we play La Tech again.

RE: La Tech Thread
We have finally decided to use our big for points. There aren't many teams in our conference who are going to be able to stop those guys. Lee is fantastic off the dribble if we can just get him a foot or two of space to get his dribble started. He played the best game of the season tonight, and he stroked that wide open three without any hesitation. He is going to be an all timer at UAB.
I've been saying it for a while, the biggest hole in Mehinti's game is holding onto the ball. He lose rebounds and entry passes often, but when he catches them, he can't be stopped. That is something that can be improved.
I like Norton a lot, but we needed him out of the game immediately last night. He wasn't ready for that game, and that's okay when Watts can fill in the way he did.
Baxter is still playing aggressively, and I love it. Cokley is probably our best scorer from inside 15 feet, he just can't defend yet. CJ seems to have found a nice role. Madison played well again last night, he just had difficulty scoring with all the length on the court. He played some solid minutes though. I like this 9 man rotation, and I really think we are going to come into our own. The freshmen are really starting to turn a corner, and brown has thrived in his role as team leader. It may not all come together this year, but we are going to be a damn force next year.
