Don't understand the reason? Jay did this all on his own. Started to keep his team informed and then evolved into something greater. I would hope they are just transitioning to another page as it evolved into more that just Media Service. This did come on the heals of him posting photo of skaters on the lagoon when the no skating sign was posted, so could have opened up some legal issues for the University?

I saw one of the comments - NIU media service said this would not transition to another FB page. Does anyone know the real reason the FB page is being discontinued? Seems there is something going on behind the scenes.

Maybe if people raise a large enough stink the decision can be reversed.

That is NIU's best facebook account.

I wonder if it had to do with some negative but honest comments posted a few weeks back. It was not that bad but definitely surprising coming from a "NIU" account.

From what I have heard/gathered it's because the page far evolved past its intended use. While a great resource for connecting to Media Services it really WAS only intended for communication purposes between the team.

IMO whoever made this decision made a bad one. It's a great page.

You know what.... They posted a bunch of pics of their offices getting slammed by ****** maintenance so I wonder if NIU admin got butt-hurt... *shrug* Just guesses.

They took it down early.

I thought the writing was on the wall for this for a while. I thought I remember seeing there was department restructuring at NIU and the responsibilities of Media Services were being split up with different departments, essentially ending Media Services.

That said, it is a shame. It was one of my favorite FB pages to follow.
