RE: 1/14 AAC Games
What a fun game to be at tonight. Great battle Tulane! ,
Felt like Dabney and Hook could not miss for Tulane.
Really stoked about BJ Taylor and how he just took over the 3rd OT. Going to be fun to watch him and Henriquez develop over the next 3 1/2 years.

It was even better in person.
Can't recall such a tight, close game that went 55 mins...as the game was tied at halftime...end of regulation...end of 1st OT...end of 2nd OT...but NOT the 3rd!
Tulane's Junior and Senior Guards Dabney and Hook (13-25 from 3 pt range...51 combined points) were a handful for UCF's 2 Freshmen (Taylor and Henriquez) and Soph (Goodwin) guards....but great learning experience for those young guns.
Bummer UCF has to travel to Memphis on Friday...as those guys got gassed tonight (UCF had just 8 eligible players with Davis suspended for at least night's game for driving with suspended license).

I told everyone BJ was going to be a star player before the season. He will settle in nicely with the talent coming next year too along with Adonys and Brandon.

Hand grenade loss in that it sends you out to Bourbon St for a few hand grenades to numb the pain?
Man, its a good thing I don't live in New Orleans.

It truly was.
Someone at ESPN owes the country an explanation for why this game was on ESPNU and SMU-Temple was on CBSSN.
Houston and ECU have a LOT of work to do.

You certainly weren't alone...as he was UCF's first ever Parade All-American to sign with UCF...plus, the early summer unofficial workouts and praise (from some former UCF players just playing pick-up ball), the early praise of BJ was immense.
Obviously praise and then actually doing it as a true freshmen are 2 different things...and while BJ will have his ups (like in the OT last night) and downs (like vs SMU on Sunday), he is getting very valuable experience...and no doubt it will help him in the coming years...especially when UCF gets a talent infused explosion starting next year (highly touted incoming recruits/transfers, plus being back to 13 scholarships...vs last night's only 8 eligible players available).

ECU needs big men in the worst way. Our guards are actually really talented but don't play smart.

RE: 1/14 AAC Games
Congrats to UCF. Played right at our defensive vulnerabilities.
Tough loss for the greenies...but the key will be how we respond with a quick turnaround time to 11AM Saturday. Road games against the non-elite of the league are 50/50 for us, realistically. And the pointspread said that. UCF's getting better, too.
If we lose in Houston, then I'll worry about our progress and season.

We really needed that win. Our fanbase really got whacked down after struggling the last few years. Hopefully the good student turnout will continue (without getting free crap).
I really like what is going on at Tulane. New on campus stadium, upgraded hoops arena, and basketball program doing very well. This stuff will pay dividends when the TV contract comes up in 4 1/2 years (Or look in time). I'm sure ESPN figured when they originally signed the TV contract they would have only 3 decent AAC hoops teams (TV worthy) and very average football. We gave them "decent" ratings, good hoops teams, and the league is still holding the same membership with the Big 12 not even eager to move. Uconn is national champs and both mens and womens hoops.
