Memphis State - Alabama non-TD pic
Quite a while back someone posted an old black-and-white pic of Memphis State scoring the winning touchdown at Alabama, but the TD was not called.

Does anybody have that pic or a link to it?

Wasn't that the game in Jackson against Mississippi in 1977? Black Bears won 7-3 but a number of TIGER fans swear Patterson crossed the goal line on that late drive. Keep in mind MEMPHIS had beaten Mississippi three consecutive times: 1973, 1974, and1976.

I think he is referring to the game against Alabama where the ref looked over at Bear Bryant before making the call that he didn't score.

I was at that game and "Lucky" Lloyd Patterson was waist deep in the end zone. That game was played in Jackson and the cover photo that week of the campus paper (Tiger Rag then ??) was of Patterson stretched over the GL with ball in hand. Those gutless, cheating, crappy clothes wearing, flip boy, @&-#%$$)(-%'ERS!!!

he is. it happened. there is a photo proving it. it has gotten better in years but i have never seen alabama get a bad spot on a ball, ever. have seen many penalty to keep their drives alive and many to stall the opponents.

if you think coaching, recruiting, universities, tv, administrations are crooked and contrived but SEC refs are beyond reproach then you are living in fantasy land.

Memphis beat Old Mrs. Black Bears in Jackson in 1973.

I wonder if there is one of that Lville non catch for a TD at the buzzer?

Both of those rapes occurred (1) on the road and, of course, (2) before instant replays. The bad call in the 1977 Ole Miss game happened right in front of me (I was down low on the 10-yard line). The ground definitely caused the ball to come out. The official who ruled it a fumble had a bad angle and was across the field. A native of Knoxville, we "blackballed" him. The game was nearly over and the touchdown would have given us 4-in-a-row over the Rebs. It's the sort of thing I have lived thru which makes me mad when I hear ignorant people say "Tiger football has never done anything". It's true that much of our misery was our own fault, but we have always had to fight an uphill battle.

On Bama's last possesion when we beat them I wanna say there were 2 pass interference and a personal foul to get them into field goal range. It was just blatant before we got in a conference. Bad mouth whatever conference we have been a member of in football, it has helped even out officiating against SEC schools
