they probably would have taken similar career paths if okorn had lived up to his hype... they moved ward to wr at the of his freshmen year...and was projected to be a starting WR just after a few months despite having almost no experience in it (and we are stacked at the WR poisition, so jumped a ton of touted recievers)
but in the end okorn hit the famous sophmore slump and ward had to be put back at qb
but im looking forward to next year, ward had zero reps in the offseason at qb and was a true soph (never had an offseason as a qb in college)...will be curious to see him after having months to prep at qb..especially with herman as the hea coach who is nicknamed the qb whisperer

I think that if O'Korn stays he will be our QB. I don't think that in Herman's system Ward can be as effective as O'Korn and with the right coaching O'Korn will live up to potential. Of course, as I said, if he stays.

VERY NICE!!
I'm excited to see what Ward can do within the structure of a real offense.

I don't think O'Korn will be able to unseat Ward from this point onwards. He lost the locker room, the season and the majority of the fanbase. After Ward beat all of the odds and after watching the video, its no wonder he wants to transfer. Lol
O'Korn has not lost the majority of the fan base. Because of his height, strong arm and potential, there are many fans like dezag, who still believe that he should be the starter.
I want the person who has the ability to win us games to be the starter. This season that was shown to be Ward.
People keep talking about how much Herman can help O'Korn, but like Kronke said imagine what he can do with Ward.

Reminds me of a smaller RGIII, maybe a slightly better running but not as good arm strength. . The question is can he stay healthy? I don't care how tricky a runner someone is, all it takes is a non-contact false cut to tweak an ankle, knee, or other as RGIII (even Cam Newton) is finding out.
Greg Ward reminds me a lot of Jeff Godfrey when he started as a true freshman. Godfrey took a huge step backwards his sophomore year though once teams figured out all you had to do was keep him in the pocket so he can't scramble.

It showed halfway through the season. Teams got the scouting report on him but it will be interesting to see how Ward takes it to the next level next season.

Nearly every defense in the AAC is bad, so that isn't much of an argument as to why Ward won't continue to succeed.
UCF didn't have a bad defense and in that game Ward was 10-17 for 116 yards 0tds 0ints and rushed for 9 yards on 9 attempts.
He also had a fumble lost.
He also came into the game to relieve a struggling O'Korn, and came within 6 inches of coming back to win the game for us.
But yes, UCF was one of the better defenses, and Ward had one of his less impressive games against them. The original point of the guy that questioned Ward's success was that he put up most of his numbers against "bad" defenses. Well, it could be said that a majority, if not a vast majority of the defenses in the AAC are "bad", so that isn't much of an argument against Ward. Unless 8 or 9 or so teams magically improve their defense between now and next year, he should continue to do well the majority of the time.

Like I said earlier, he reminds me of Jeff Godfrey who had an awesome freshman year at UCF. Similar height, weight, and speed, and stats (Godfrey had better stats his freshman year probably because he started more games) and lead us to a conference championship and bowl win against Georgia. But once teams figure out how to play Godfrey effectively (keep him in the pocket, don't let him scramble, and make him make the correct reads all the way down the field), he suffered and regressed during his sophomore year. Which nicely cleared the way for this guy name Blake Bortles to come in and start and Godfrey moved to WR.
Maybe Ward's story will end up different. But this is what I see happening with Ward.
