We've never tried the Arcade but will have to give it a shot next time we're in town for a game.

Well, I'm a native who hasn't lived in Memphis in decades, but I can't see how any breakfast on the planet could be better than Bryants out on Summer. Yeah, I know it's not downtown, but I place it up there with Gus's as iconic Memphis stuff.

Anyone ever eat lunch there? Really looked good but I've never tried it.

They discontinued the bbq lunch at Bryant's.

200 restaurants downtown. Do Beale and then explore the rest, including South Main Arts District and Harbortown.

Itta Bena is the other best-kept secret downtown; it's a speakeasy above BB King's.

05-stirthepot Don't leave anything in your car period. Don't even leave your car if you can help it.

I haven't been down to Cozy in years, but I have a semi-funny story about that place. At my previous employer and about 20 years ago, we had a very well to do manager go down there with his wife. When they were leaving to go to the car, and guy comes out of nowhere and points a gun at him and tells him to give him his money. Well the manager looks him right in that face and says "No". The robber pushes the gun in his stomach and says give me your wallet or I'm going to shoot you and your woman. The manager responds, "Go ahead, shoot us. I'm not giving you anything." Well for whatever reason the robber just took off running the other direction.

01-wingedeagle You said about 20 years ago. DO NOT TRY THAT TODAY !!!

03-hissyfit I know you are kidding but don't put something like that here for tourist to read because they might actually do it and end up dead, mugged, or in the hospital.

36 Hours In Memphis from the NY Times...Video

There’s more to Memphis than blues, barbecue and Elvis; you’ll also find trendy bars, ’70s disco and gourmet snow cones.

First..loose (we need the win). then go out and have a good time. The ribs at Blues City (its a dive on Beale) are great! Better dining..McKewns on Monroe, Flight is fun..food pretty good..Felecia Suzanne's is good. Local is fun, decent food and prices.

There are so many more little shops across this area that offer much better BBQ.

Or don't leave your pet in the car when it's 30 outside...

Central BBQ and the BBQ Shop are Great...Payne's is good too.

Having eaten at BBQ Shop on Madison at least 6 times I can tell you my experience has been hit or miss. When it has been good it is really good. When it's not been good it is still better than most just not as good as it can be.

I was extremely disappointed with my last trip to the BBQ Shop. I don't understand why it cannot be consistent.

We took our "tourist" customers to the Rendezvous for dinner during our conference this past year after a couple of years not going.

It was absolutely horrible food. The ribs were piss poor to say the least.
