Geno Auriemma

IF there end up not being good existing Division 1 Men's basketball coaches who would take this job, whenever it comes open or unsuccessful NBA coaches with past winning college experience (like Pitino and Calipari became)...

A guy like this knows how to recruit and win. And He knows how to deal with players who sometimes act like prima donnas... 05-stirthepot

But seriously, if/when the time comes that a coaching change is made, why not at least look at a coach (lots of them out there--doesn't have to be Geno) who has a great track record in a different division of basketball, and knows how to recruit college athletes?

If not a basketball coach in Geno's capacity, then maybe whoever has a track record of burning it up on a division 3 level in Men's basketball, or the best former college coach now in the NBA not doing so great?

It would be a lot like how the Cavaliers hired David Blatt. Zero experience coaching American high school basketball, college basketball, or pro basketball. But tons of experience of overseas basketball.

If he ever coached men's BB he might be terrible...or he might be great.

A lot of folks scoffed at the idea of high school coaches like Hugh Freeze and Gus Malzahn.

There is no denying that the guy can coach. How would it translate to the men's game? I don't know, but I would have like to have seen it a few years ago. He is no spring chicken.
