Ted Cruz's Career is Over
Documents reveal Ted Cruz was ticketed with alcohol possession as a minor
Quote:Will the latest news about Ted Cruz hurt his chances for the 2016 GOP nomination? Click to learn the betting odds for the junior Texas senator and other contenders for the Oval Office.
When Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, was a teenager, he was caught doing teenage things, as revealed in documents obtained by BuzzFeed.
In his application to become Texas solicitor general, Cruz was required to list any prior convictions. That included one "guilty plea for minor in possession of alcohol."
Apparently when Cruz was a high school senior in 1987, authorities found an unopened case of beer in his vehicle. They gave him a ticket....
Next thing you know, we’ll find out that he once went through the Express Lane at the supermarket with MORE than 15 items.
That's it! Deal's off!

Didn't Ted Kennedy kill a girl in 1969? I think that was worse.

Donald Sutherland's scream at the end of the Invasion of the Body Snatchers is so damn creepy.

Kennedy wasn't a righty so he don't count.
I like to think back to the patronizing Bush got, by the liberals, over a DUI he'd gotten in 1976 while they totally dismissed obama smoking weed and snorting crack.

IT is the single reason he was never nominated. The Dems knew the Republicans would run ads with the "..and then I panicked" news conference clip ad nauseum.

Probably true. And obama is still snorting and smoking with the unholywood elite he seems to favor so much. Two can play the same game as both have done no-nos'.

When people find out he's gay, all bets are off.

I would think you'd be on his side now that you've made the determination that he's gay. Would you vote for him if you found out he was really gay?

Why would I vote for a person simply because they are gay?

I thought that's how libs rolled. Lots of people voted for Obama just because he's black, so I thought it worked that way for all minorities.

1. Kennedy lived for 40 years after that "incident" near Martha's Vineyard. Even if we presume (against all evidence) that he told the exact truth about what happened there, 40 years is a long time to live with the consequences of such a disaster. Kennedy was notorious for his alcoholism. I wonder if his drinking wasn't made worse by a guilty conscience.
2. If not for Chappaquiddick, Kennedy probably would have served as President of the United States at some point between 1973 and 2001. A nightmarish thought.
3. The parents of Mary Jo Kopechne publicly stated that they disbelieved Kennedy's explanation of the events that resulted in their daughter's dead body being found in the back seat of Kennedy's Oldsmobile. They asked him to answer certain questions which were (to say the least!) left unanswered by his public statements on the issue. At least in public, Kennedy ignored the Kopechnes' pleas and went on with his life as if nothing had happened.
4. Other than Kennedy, no other figure in American politics would have been allowed to continue in elective office in light of such a hideous scandal. The incident occurred in 1969, when the assassinations of John Kennedy and Robert Kennedy were still freshly-remembered, national traumatic events for most Americans. In one sense, Edward Kennedy cashed in the chips of sympathy and good-will generated by his brothers' deaths, and used them to remain in office as a US Senator. Quite the class act, he was.
