If, what TripleA wrote was true, that ends the crazy discussion that NOBODY wanted the job.
Calkins wrote his article because he knew that Drew was coming, and he wanted to be the guy that warned us all about what a boogeyman Drew was going to be.
KE indicates that Drew was interested.
TripleA states Drew and Memphis were in the process of negotiating terms.
Yet somehow Dudley Do Right knows more than them.
Pfft.
Numerous posters on this board would have taken the job. A lot of bad coaches and at least one scumbag like Drew might have taken the job. Nobody GOOD wanted the job.
First you say NOBODY.
Now it's NOBODY "good." I guess "good" according to you.
As for a BAD coach, you realize that next season, Drew took Baylor to the Elite Eight, right? I would love to have a coach that bad.

Here is a better response.
The 3 that met with RC decided that they didn't want the job. I am sure that a lot of coaches were contacted, and/or met with RC, and decided that they didn't want the job.
I'm sure that there was interest on the part of coaches that weren't contacted. Assume that they either weren't considered to be good candidates, or didn't want the job enough to have someone call RC to gauge interest.
You can also assume that RC botched the coaching search just as he did pretty much everything else. That's just as probable as the assumptions you are stating. But then, that wouldn't fit your narrative.

My narrative is this...
- RC has always been a nitwit. Cal dealt with RC, still took the job and did great here
- Pastner did a great job his first 5 years considering where the program was, and that he had no credentials
- Pastner has underperformed this year...so far
- We may hire someone who turns out to be better; but Mike Anderson hasn't made the tournament in 3 years at Arkansas and Missouri hired Frank Haith. Those are plausible best/worst scenarios that don't turn out too good
- There are more examples of coaches at our type of program falling off the map than there are of success stories
- We will have to be very lucky if we are going to get a successful coach to replace Pastner
Your narrative is that Pastner sucks. That's the only reason you are back after your 4 year break from the board.

Hey, "new" guy is back. What is it now; 5 of your posts reference me and the other 4 bash Pastner? Funny.
I told you in my first post I was only creating my account to ask you (politely) to stop cluttering up the site with your nonsense and incessant arguing with posters who actually have information to add to the discussion. Not a big secret here.
It's a fan site and everyone should have an opinion, but every thread devolves into solid posters having to deal with your repetitive blather. If you are posting more than 10 times a day, when you have ZERO actual information, that should be your clue to back away for awhile.

No one except John Calipari (remember the plane trip to NC STATE and the open discussions with Kentucky). At this point in time, what difference does it make to say "I was being considered seriously for the Memphis job?" What...are they going to fire them? I have been offered lots of jobs and told lots of people about them because it really did not matter if I ULTIMATELY decided to stay where I was and not take the other offer. In fact, it actually helped me get a bigger salary and bonuses from my then current employer. On the other hand, I offered jobs to people who then went back to their currrent employer and got a hefty jump in salary to stay where they were. You are acting like there is a reason to keep this a secret when in reality, no school is going to fire a coach because the are good and are sought after by other schools. What sense does that make? By that logic, if another school comes after Fuente, we need to FIRE HIM? Come on!!!
