Two down, one to go. Even if Watts doesn't do the right thing and fall on his sword, and then even if the BOT doesn't "behead" UAB by firing Watts, a clean sweep of the the no confidence votes will bolster our efforts in Montgomery. Let's pray that the Faculty Senate doesn't chicken out.

If ending UAB football was entirely President Watts idea, then something will be accomplished by his removal. If the real culprit is the BOT, they remain out of reach and will simply bring in another of their guys, and probably nothing substantial will change. I guess we will see soon.

All true, but there's this: The new president will know what happened to the old one, and why.

They'll also know that the new president will be scrutinized by SACS, given the circumstances. If they get cute that will be one more mark against them.

Even if we get football back, they have set us back a decade.

As long as it's EXACTLY a decade (or 11 years), that's not such a bad thing, is it? 03-lmfao

It's actually THREE down, one to go:
GSG: No Confidence!!
NAS: Uhhh...maybe a little confidence?
USGA: NO CONFIDENCE!!!
Faculty Senate: TBD Thursday!

I see one flaw in the resolution.

"or for Watts to demonstrate more recognition for their concerns."

There should have been no ifs, ands, ors, or buts, in the resolution.

Watts and the BOT need to realize that this won't end for them until football is restored. Even if Watts is gone, there will continue to be pressure on whoever is in leadership.

If bringing in guys like Watts were so easy, they would have done it with Reynolds and Garrison, but that didn't happen.

Watts is a special kind of arrogant narcissist.

Add to it that the decision on the president who is chosen will be scrutinized.

What scares me is who, in their right mind, would even be willing to be UAB president when they would ultimately be working for, and under the undermining eyes of....the bot?

That's why reforming the BOT is the most important issue. Either we need equal representation on that Board or we need to break free. That's the only real choice at this point.

sadly, $830,000+

You'd think one's soul would be worth more than that.

We'd better settle in with the fact that football as we know it is done. I'm thinking about the next iteration of UAB football.

Blazer 2.0, if you will.

You bring up a good point, but the BOT cannot afford to install another incompetent in Watts place if they intend to continue to use UAB as their cash cow. After this debacle, surely any candidate worthy of the office would insist on certain assurance and preconditions in contractually language before taking the job. Yes, I know that the BOT cannot be trusted, but they wouldn't want to be sued for not living up to contractual obligations.
