Marcus Evans, of Cape Henry, was nominated to the McDonald's All-American Game, he's been playing real well this season. He's a player who does the little things it takes to win.
Thanks. One of the mantras here is about whether a coach can maximize existing talent and make them into a good team or whether he coaches a system that requires superior talent to work. I think we can all see significant improvement in the effort and production of the returning players and we can also see some really good talent coming down the pipes. It's really hard not to be excited about this program right now. To my perception, I think there are some things that the team does that will get better results in the future as Rhodes gets his recruits in, but the current team may be marginally better if they did not do them now (at least not in the same way), if that makes sense. Specifically, I mean some of the energy expended defensively in pressing and some of the motion and passing on offense. That said, I think they're better this year than they would have been under Braun, and you can really see the energy from the players and you can tell that they never give up.
All of that said, I was happy to see ODU getting up to a ranked position. Losing to ODU basketball was not nearly as disappointing as losing to ODU in football last fall.
