State of the AAC 2015: O-Lines + TE's
List your graduates, early draftees, and also your returning players with emphasis on impact/key players.

ECU OL loses only C Taylor Hudson and all of our TE's (if you actually consider us to have true TE's) are back.

And we add some highly touted recruits to bolster it.

RE: State of the AAC 2015: O-Lines + TE's
UCF loses a Tight End in Justin Tukes (one of our better TE's, hard to judge how good though because he was largely a blocking TE, with maybe one receiving option per game). We haven't really had a true receiving TE option since Adam Nissley, but theres a possibility Jordan Akins slides from WR into an HB/TE receiving option next year.

OLine is left in a little bit better shape than last year, losing only 1 starter in Torrian Wilson. He'll be hard to replace, especially with our woes on the Oline this year, but we have a lot of big uglies that can step up with another offseason under their belt. I'm hoping OLine is a strength next year, as that is the only way we don't have a down year. Holman NEEDS time in the pocket, and we NEED a good run blocking scheme to let Stanback come into his own.

We also lose graduate transfer Tarik Milner, but he mostly saw backup duty this past season.

In summary, lose 1 TE, return 2 scholarship TE's, and will probably sign 1 TE this class.

OLine loses Left Tackle(?) Torrian Wilson, and backup Tarik Milner. We return A LOT of scholarship players, and will potentially sign the 8th best Center in the country in Luke Hiers, as well as 1 to 2 more signees this offseason.

I always find it funny when the recruiting services rank Centers. They should all just be OLineman. They rarely have an idea of where a lineman will end up playing in college.

we lose 2 major impacts on the Oline our center and rg both were 4 year starters (Bryce Redman, Rowdy Harper) both were all conference...but we overall we should be better on the oline.... everyone else on the oline in the 2 deep returns and all of the starters returning were first year starters who got better as the season went one... our RB ended the season with like 5 consecutive 100 yd plus games and 9 tds the last 4 alone...we also have a 4star Oline from oklahoma who had to sit out becuase of transfer rules and some redshirts

and we should be the most improved TE i the league..lol we didnt use TE last year, but herman uses TE heavily in his offense

Btw we should get Tyler hundieck out of PA this weekend as well. #81 guard in the nation. We need a good left tackle though

Bryce Williams, the only TE we rarely used, was only a Jr. so he will be back next year. Need to utilize him more in the Redzone!

Good post but here's some more info:

UCF lost starting OL Soph Colby Watson early last year to a season ending injury. Will he be able to get back to 100% and improve performance in 2015?

Milner actually started the last 7 games of the season.

Then you add in former starting center Joey Grant's pre-season injury, tacked on by other alignments, which caused him to lose his starting center spot but he tried to play guard late in the year when he came back to play.

Interesting to see if Grant can get back to 100% (had post-season surgery) and if so, what position would he play? Center or Guard? Or does UCF stick with the walk-on who earned the starting spot this season, Rae? Or does UCF go with their highly touted HS center recruit?

Biggest thing for UCF's OL is that if they can find 5 guys come August Camp who can play together for most of the season in 2015...because this past season who so many changes, the line never was able to play well as a unit with all the constant shuffling.

memphis loses only al bonds and all 4 tight ends return (cross & montiel got the most playing time). one OL kid is transfering out leaving 16 offensive linemen on the roster right now. numbers change at spring ball we all know though.

I think Memphis returns 9/10 on the 2 deep. We lose our RT, Al Bond. We are getting a grad transfer from Louisville who is about 6'4 315 (originally from Memphis) and started a handful of games for them. He should slot into Bond's spot at RT.

We'll have Lynch back at QB. We lose a couple of WRs and our starting RB (Hayes) but our other top 4 RBs are back. We have 5 or 6 of our top WRs returning. Cross will be back at TE. He's the one who got sucker punched by that idiot from BYU and just turned around and looked at him.

Our offense should be the best in the AAC.

cincy might debate that....who was arguably the best (or 2nd) and return all the skill players and qb

RE: State of the AAC 2015: O-Lines + TE's
Yes Cincinnati returns Gunner Kiel at QB, will have all of our receivers back and return RB's Hosey Williams (starter last two seasons but got hurt early last year), Tion Green (#2 back for the past two seasons but got hurt early last year) and freshman Mike Boone who started playiing midway through the season and still scored 9 TDs and averaged over 5 yards a carry.

UC brought in the TE to block on occasion last year. We lose Senior Jake Golic but frankly that is not a huge loss. Junior DJ Dowdy played as much if not more than Golic and Dowdy is much more talented. RS Sophomore Tyler Cogswell (who originally commited to Arkansas) will likely get some PT next year at TE. He is a big athletic guy and should contribute next year.

On the offesive line UC will really miss T Eric Lefeld who will likely be playing on Sundays next fall. UC returns Junior DeShawn Bond who will be in his third year at the position and was on the Remington Watch List last year. Other returnees include starters Parker Einhinger, Justin Murray and Ryan Leahy. UC has brought in a couple massive JUCOs who are already here- 6'7 Idarius Ray and former Kansas commit, DeLonte Murray (G).

As crazy it is may sound the biggest concern I have on offense is at QB. Gunner Kiel was injured a lot this past season and Munchie Legaux served great when Gunner went down. With Munchie moving on who will be the guy to spell Gunner in the event of an injury? Our true #2 QB from this past season may not be back with the team due to an off the field incident and the guys behind him will be a RS and True Freshman.

I actually like what UCF is bringing back on the OL. Looks like it will be back to the traditional run first, pass second offense. I think the injuries were due to the new off-season work out regiment. Colby Watson is apparently the strongest guy on the team coincidently he also got hurt. Maybe they lay off the weights this off-season.

The OTs get another year to develop. Look for Campbell & Brown to start here. Grant is probably still a lock at center. Rae is just too small, (how many kids are in the Rae family?) he was getting dominated when opponents put a DT over his nose. Watson & Dickey will probably start at guard. The new run first offense should get highly touted Mario Mathis or Cedric Thompson on the field at FB, Kevin Miller at TE. They should be able to open up a lot of holes.

Campbell 6'6" 285
Watson 6'5" 318
Grant 6'3" 286
Dickey 6'4" 300
Brown 6'5"317

We only lose two scholarship seniors who were starters, so we'll presumably have everyone back plus redshirts, and freshmen.

RE: State of the AAC 2015: O-Lines + TE's
As far as o-line goes, we are replacing all our starters except for Thor Jozwiak (who plays guard). The good news is that our previous linemen were weak as heck and the guys replacing them should be better simply because they condition better.

We are shockingly loaded at OT for a G5 team. We have confirmed to be on the roster for the o-line for this coming year, barring injury, Benjamin Knox (a former 4 star who decommitted from UF and was part of last year's big class), Jozwiak, Kofi Amichia (a former 3 star lineman who was backing up Austin Reiter the past 2 years), Michael Smith (a redshirt freshman who was a 3 star prospect), Cameron Ruff (who will compete with Amichia for the starting center job), and for depth, Michael Galati and Zach Hudson, who were 2 star recruits (although Galati was on the 3 star borderline).

We also have the #6 JUCO OL committed in Glen Bethel, and I think he'll sign though we still have 3 weeks to go. He's a 3/4 star prospect and certainly would be a huge boost to our line if Reilly Gibbons can't qualify to play next year. Leading into that, Gibbons is a former 4 star OT who signed with Stanford out of high school, but apparently only attended summer classes there. We are waiting to see if he's going to be allowed to play next year, though he's already here attending classes and spring workouts.

We are much weaker at tight end. Our starter for next year is Sean Price, and he's done nothing to justify the 4 star ranking he deserved coming out of high school (and the #6 TE in the country that year). Kano Dillon will most likely be our backup-he redshirted last year and is a traditional blocking tight end. I just hope Price shows up like the player he was supposed to be.

Thanks bullsbuc
We actually return two guards with experience Joswiak and Gudmunsun, we also have Threatt that has started at that position
Tight End we have in addition to those you mention the TE that transferred as a JUCO last year and played he will probably be second after Price but is more of a blocking TE
As you said if we get Bethel and Gibbons at OT as expected this will be a more talented and physical OL than in previous years

RE: State of the AAC 2015: O-Lines + TE's
If the current verbal commitments hold, ECU will have 18 scholarship offensive linemen and one walkon for 2014. The Pirates lose one starter from 2014 and return 6 offensive linemen who have started 10 or more games at ECU. ECU's starting TE returns as well as a backup who was the only other TE on the roster to record stats. ECU's 2015 OL/TE group will feature three 2014 2nd Team All AAC performers. All classes listed are for the 2015 season.

Departing:
Taylor Hudson: Started all 13 games in 2014 at Center. Also started 2 games at Center in 2013. 2014 1st Team All Conference

Returning Starters (have started at least 10 games while at ECU):
Ike Harris, SR: Started 11 games at LT in 2013. Started all 13 games at LT in 2014. 2014 2nd Team All Conference
Quincy McKinney, SR: Started all 13 games at LG in 2014.
Dontae Levingston, SR: Started 10 games at RT in 2014.
J.T. Boyd, JR: Started the last 11 games of the 2014 season at RG. 2014 2nd Team All Conference
Tre Robertson, SR: Started 6 games at RT in 2013. Started the first two games of 2014 at RG and then finished the 2014 season starting the last 3 games at RT.
C.J. Struyk, SR: Started 11 of 13 games at Center in 2013 over 2014 starter Taylor Hudson. A shoulder injury kept him out of spring practice and he lost his starting job in 2014.

Returning Backups:
Messiah Rice, FR 3 Star 85.06
Brandon Smith, SO 3 Star 82.77
Will Foxx, SR 3 Star 80.93
Larry Williams, SO 3 Star 80.38
Stewart Hinson, SR 3 Star 79.94
Des Barmore, FR 2 Star 78.93
Erik Lenzen, FR 2 Star 78.59
Garrett McGhin, FR 2 Star 77.44
Kyle Erikson, FR 2 Star 76.59
Christian Matau, SO 2 Star 74.33
Bladen Gatling, SR Walkon

Verbal Commitments:
Darius Anderson, 3 star 80.07 247
Dalton Montgomery, 2 Star 76.33

ECU doesn't lose any tight ends.

Returning Starter:
Bryce Williams, SR: Had 20 receptions for 220 yards and 5 touchdowns in 2013. In 2014, had 18 receptions for 237 yards and 4 touchdowns. 2014 2nd Team All Conference

Returning Backups:
Steve Baggett, SO: 2 receptions for 27 yards in 2014.
Darren Dowdell, SO
Beau Huffman, SO
