Recruiting new players is infinitely more difficult if you have a coach with less than a 4 year active contract since recruits generally want some indication the school is committed to the coach they're about to sign with.

Haase hasn't earned an extension in my opinion and I will leave it at that. You're always going to have to make tough decisions as to whether or not to keep a coach. When we all thought it was time for Davis to go, we didn't care about how it would affect recruiting. That's all I'm saying.

Davis didn't recruit. We went through the early signing period year after year with no players.

Doesn't matter. It still doesn't justify Haase getting a extension under normal circumstances.

Will you please? There are more pressing battles to fight right now.

Who gave them extensions? We don't have a permanent AD.

No I will not. I'm not fighting, I'm voicing my opinion and unless the AUP now includes only talking about saving football I think I am within the guidelines of voicing said opinion.

Carry on sir!

William Lee and Chris Cokley. That's our justification.

If it's any consolation, I actually agree with you. Add a year to the contract if you have to, but not two.

That's all I am saying. But hey, if the administration is giving money away how do I get in on it?

RE: Haase's New Contract Includes Clause Against Criticizing Administrators
My take on this is that we just gained some stability in those four sports during a time when we all have questioned this president and the BOT toward UaB athletics. I'll take it as a fan and alum...however it doesn't change what we are fighting for not only for Football, Rifle, and Bowling reinstatement, but the future plans for our University and removing this extended black eye Watts has given us.

I can't prove it, but I really believe UAB's enemies waited until he was gone before making this move. I don't think they would've dared so long as he was still in the saddle.

The BOT, though Ealy was also in on the call. That gives me hope that he can restore football if we can just get rid of Watts...

Why can't anyone admit this the best recruiting since Bartow? Proof is in the pudding.

I thought so. A bammer I know who follows HS basketball swore that Lewis Sullivan would become a better player than Lee or either of their recruits. I'd be ok with that happening.

It's simple. If you want Haase to stay, you extend his contract, especially when you are extending other coach's in the athletic department. What message do you send to Haase if everyone gets their contract extended but his.

Contracts mean very little anyway in sports.

Agreed MB. Let's beat some teams we aren't supposed to beat at this point.

I agree he didn't really earn a 2 year extension with his on the court performance, but I understand why it was done.

I have very high hopes for all four of norton, Lee, Sullivan, and cokley. Something hasn't clicked with Sullivan yet, but he is a very talented and multifaceted player, somewhat like Demario eddins. I hope it clicks with him soon..

Guess that means those 4 sports will be cut in 2017.

That's my tinfoil hat worry.

Blazertalk should get a sponsorship with some tinfoil hat manufacturers.
