All of the negativity should take a hike to miserable town! We need more positivity and support for our team! Seasons not even close to being over!

Why are the realists on this board are alway labeled "Miserables"? The Sunshine Pumpers need to get a grip on the way things are and not what they want it to be.

As much as we hate it: A realist would recognize that we will not have single digit losses every year. A realist would expect a down year. The sunshine pumpers are the realists.

The same realists that were complaining about Lynch starting over Karam.The Sunhine Pumpers wanted us to win enough games and go to a bowl game. I am glad I wasn't a realists/Miserable and said we couldn't do it. You are what you are. An unhappy Miserable.

I think most on your list tend to look at the FACT that we hired Tic Price and Pastner, and if Cal doesn't take the job, Johnny Jones would have been our coach. Cal is the only wow hire in the history of the program...and even he was damaged goods when we hired him.

The posters that have been littering the board with negative garbage for the last 5 years are the ones that are convinced that we will hire a proven coach with a great track record. I hope they are right.

Just curious why this thread was moved to the Smack Forum. I was simply pointing out that there was a new strain on miserable. The original has to do with the state of the team under the current regime. The new strain has to do with the overall state of the program and how it could never attract a head coach who had had real success at a mid- to high-level D1 program. There is no question in my mind that Memphis offers program-level advantages over those at Wichita St and VCU. Marshall and Smart have succeeded at WSU & VCU despite the foundations at thise programs. Each would be able to achieve even higher levels of success at Memphis, just as Calipari was able to "up his game" by going from Memphis to UK. It's just easier to accomplish there. As far as Memphis is concerned, you can recruit 90% of a F4/Championship team without leaving the county. A coach of their stature would have a 95% chance of landing any recruit he wanted from Shelby County. Just add 1 or 2 pieces from outside the area & you are set.

I don't think it's the fact that Memphis isn't attractive enough to find a first rate coach, it's that if they fire Pastner after one down (not losing) season, then they'll be in about the same pickle as they found themselves in when they unceremoniously chit canned Larry Finch.

I've always thought if Larry was just eased into a consulting position, the line of quality applicants would have circle the block twice.
Instead, they got stuck with a Tic.

Ok George ill play. Define good year and down year according to expectations due to pre season rankings compared to every other school that was ranked the last 5 years.
