OT: Ravens @ Patriots, Jamie Collins
Jamie Collins (from Southern Miss) is having a hell of a game, and the commentators are gushing over him. He is doing USM proud. Congrats guys!

Jamie Collins is the FUTURE-BREED of what the NFL will be like in 15 years. He is truly the ultimate HYBRID football player EVERY NFL team wishes they had. His broad jump is 11'7" broad jump! His vertical is 41.5 inches! He can play defensive line, linebacker, outside-linebacker, safety, AND defensive back...ALL IN THE NFL and all at 6'3 1/2 and 250 pounds. Truly a FREAK athlete. And he's only 25 years old....he'll get stronger, faster, bigger....it's scary when you look at his potential. With the right staff and players around him.....as the commentator mentioned in the Pats/Ravens game, "this guy will be in the Pro-Bowl at least 4 out of the next 5 years".

Fixed it for ya. It was To__ Bra_for_'s _efense. No TEAM "D" whatsoever '08-'10.....that zone-defense we had was horrendous.

...sad thing is, we were probably better then on defense than we have been the past few years.

I still have nightmares of Bra_for_'s defense and one that I'm still reminded of is the 2009 game at Houston when we lost 50-43. Case Keenum threw for 559 yards and 5 TDs, and as a team Houston ran for 191 yards. But the part that sticks with me is how many times that game Bra_for_ ran a prevent defense when the distance was 3 yards or less. It was to the point he was content giving up 10 yards a play and letting Houston march down the field as long as they didn't have scoring plays of 50 yards or more

the two deep........reminds me of twins in the sack.....

don't remind me about your last statement.....

we got jucos and shiteload of people that are going 'try-out' at tight end...(forgive the unintended pun)....having an offense can relieve stress on D......

Probably not, TTT, as our offense was much better then and kept the ball longer. I bet most if you know that our fine ex-coach, Ellis Johnson, said he couldn't start for his former team South Carolina....should have told us something with that statement.

RE: OT: Ravens @ Patriots, Jamie Collins
Losing Bradford was key to why we went 12-2 in 2011. If you look at the 2010 season in which we went 8-5, we were drubbed in the first game by South Carolina. The rest of our losses looked like this:

Scored 43 against ECU. Lost by 1.
Scored 49 against UAB. Lost by 1.
Scored 50 against Tulsa. Lost by 6.
Scored 28 against L'ville. Lost by 3.

It was one of the most frustrating seasons because it wasn't the players. It was our DC and his defensive scheme. I remember teams coming out and trying to balance the run and pass. Once they saw the soft zone/10 yard cushion crap pass defense, they passed almost exclusively and moved the ball with ease.

Jamie Collins should have made the Pro Bowl this year. They classify him as an OLB but he plays inside and outside. His numbers are more comparable to an ILB - 116 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and 2 interceptions.

Not to mention he is usually tasked to cover all opposing RB's that are seen as threats out of the backfield.
