Shaqs a junior and Boatright is an all american.

Regardless. My point being is that theoretically your players are supposed to mature and lead their team as upper class man. As referenced by them showing the stats comparing Walker, Napier and Boatright as Fr, Soph, Jr and Sr. UC's leader is a Sophomore.
I wonder who UCONN's star point guard will be next season? I'm a guessing they buy one off the McDonald's All American team

03-lmfao03-lmfao Not going there again. Just saying, we get the ball, up six with the shot clock difference 2-3 seconds, with not our best ball handler, do not even get a shot, and then go in locker room up four. We had a chance to go up eight, which is huge starting second half. That is all I am saying. It changed the momentum, That is a fact.

I agree with you. I wish KJ came off the bench and Cobb was starting. Might cause Cobb to really be a star shooter on this team. It worked for Nicky VanExel halfway thru his first year at UC. KJ just didn't look like he had much confidence out there today. Thinking too much, probably.

RE: UC vs, UConn Gamethread
Three biggest things that lost it.

1. The refs, seemed like they got the call down with about 15 mins left in game that UCONN was supposed to win this one. From there out refs were on UCONN's side.

2. Inability to hit threes. UCONN came in to the game with a clear plan to not let us score inside. They were double or triple teaming when the ball went inside. When the ball gets passed out whoever catches it has to be willing to shoot the three and able to make it.

3. Rebounding, Clark and Ellis got pushed around down low. Not sure what the final line was but it sure seemed like we got outrebounded by a fairly large margin.

We didnt play well and got cold at the wrong time. Other than that, I didnt think there was much seperating the two teams. I think we win this game if its at the end of the year. Not a dissapointing loss, because this team will get better.

Exactly. The refs were pretty decent for 37 or so minutes and then decided to mentally shut down in the closing stretch. It's a shame when that is a deciding factor in a close ballgame but ultimately the team put themselves in a position where that could happen.

Uconn came out and guarded us well beyond the 3 point line, and it took too long to run offense in the 2nd half.
@Mempis then a fast turnaround @Home against Temple.

No reason except unfounded sneaking suspicion, but I wonder if either Morman or KJ are not back next year. They remind me a bit of the situation with Guyn and Jermiah Davis a couple years ago.

I would think Mick would be licking chops over what Morman could give UC defensively in the future. I really hope he stays and improves. He has some explosion in his game but plenty of room to improve. I just hope he is not the next Shaq Thomas and actually shows improvement year to year.

I thought the cats gave very good effort, just need to limit the mistakes more. No shame in losing to UCONN on the road.

It's not a surprise game threads turn into a ref bashfest whenever UC is losing or loses, but it's definitely tiresome.

UC lost because they gave up easy buckets, didn't run a half court offense and so on.

No real leadership from the guards down the stretch when game was still there for the taking. Down three and Troy hands it to Gary way outside the box and everyone just backs away hoping a freshman big man is going to be able to score from the FT line. And not sure why when down especially, Cobb doesn't come back in till its a two score game and under a minute left. If we could've scored a few hoops in the last four minutes we have a great chance to win that game. Troy KJ and shaq presented no threat late. Cobb is our only decent shooter and he sits while KJ and Mormon got time with under 4 mins left. Some questionable ref calls and some questionable sub moves by Larry there. Not a bad loss to drop one at uconn but was there for the taking.

RE: UC vs, UConn Gamethread
After I gushed about Clark he had a tough day today.

The guards need to stop waiting until 8-10 seconds are left on the clock to attempt to run an offense. It doesn't work.

UC wasted way too many trips down the floor where they didn't even get off a shot. I give some credit to UConn for that but UC caused a lot if it.

I will only say this about the officiating. Brimah walked at least 4 times and got called for it once.

Nice analysis Murphy29, we really needed some offense from Cobb however he was on the bench. I was at the game last week against SMU and he changed the game.

Amen. The worst part was that the assistant coaches repeatedly were yelling and/or signaling for them to get going.

When you're not good offensively in the half court, it's best to use the 35 seconds you have as efficiently as possible.

RE: UC vs, UConn Gamethread
When it's all said and done, we all had this game down as a loss when the schedule came out, so, no harm, no foul. They just played a very good team, on their floor, before a sellout crowd, even until the end. Just like what we did to SMU.

Still think this team only loses 3 league games and only lose two more the rest of the year. That would be at SMU and either at Temple or at Memphis, but not both. No way does any team in this league beat UC at home and on THAT FLOOR IN MARCH THE UC BEARCATS will win the conference championship.

YEah and that foul called for Ellis completely flopping going down the court.

KJ and Morman just don't give us anything...I don't get why they get so many minutes.

RE: UC vs, UConn Gamethread
Wasn't anything to do with officiating.
The fact is, Clark showed timidity, the 2 spot was a non-factor and we missed open looks in the second half. So, we walked away with a tough loss. I give credit to Caupain for being consistent. I think he will be a very good point guard for us still. We need more from the 2. Shaq showed up, Ellis showed up, Caupain showed up but Johnson and Mormon could have been a lot better. I'm not that sore about this loss but I noticed toward the end, they became timid rather than aggressive. I just hope it sparks a fire under them and they keep attacking on offense from now on.
