Sick basket where it looked like Guercy's three point shot was tipped (it wasn't). Now, Gearheart lucky to stay in on the community foul (charged to Guercy).

NT misses, but gets off rebound right under basket. Guercy foul--looked like it was going to be Gearhart- Rice catches a small break there.

NT misses the FTs, but Mency and jackson loses the handle on poor pass and no shot gets off as game ends.

63-66 Final. NT beats Rice on the road for its first road win in conference in almost a year.

Disappointed that we didn't get a shot off at the end. Maybe Mency should have kept it and taken a long shot himself.

Streaming video was pretty high quality. Nice to be able to pause/replay. Didn't have any issues. How does it compare to Owlvision?

Played just well enough for a close loss again. Lots of mistakes. Need to clear that mental block.

Well my community outreach worked, my non-Rice friend bought some gear at the store after the game and wants to come back for the ODU game on Thursday. Thanks to Tiki and Walt for the ticket. 04-cheers

We just gotta bring them in one at a time! Next year I may even get him to come to a football game!

I thought the video was quite a bit better than Owlvision. I hope they make it available more often.

I liked hearing that Rice is the best FT shooting team in CUSA, really helped Rice make it close at the end.

Seriously! NT was really sagging into the passing lanes and Rice was handing it right to them.

I think we all knew that was what we'd expect going into the season. I do like the ball movement and energy level under coach Rhodes more than coach Braun's offenses.

Braun commented he likes Rice's ball movement and unselfishness under Rhoades as well. He didn't compare it to himself, unsurprisingly.

Second time I've heard Braun as an announcer. He really seems to have taken to it. He seems like a natural.

I am fine with 3's, but to completely give up driving to the lane in favor of repeatedly looking for 3's certainly backfired in the late 1st half and early 2nd half when the shooting went cold.

Agree that Braun sounded like a natural as an announcer.

I wish Drone could work with D Mo of the Rockets and learn that ambidextrous hook shot inside the lane. Drone is just not using his size effectively.

Yep again. Story of the game.

Post game comments were point blank directed at the lack of aggressiveness in attacking the zone which as Rhoades pointed out we have done a good job of doing the past several games. The lack of Rivers I think had an effect as well as rotation patterns were changed and this combined with Seth having four fouls put us with several weak groupings twice in the game, but to be fair the stretch of horrible passes had two by Drone and at least one by Seth and Bishop.

Disappointing to not get the win in a game we easily could have won given the way we had played the last 4 or 5 and the way UNT had played during that same stretch. For the most part UNT had a classic "deer in the headlights" look during our mini run early in the first before righting the ship. I thought the one thing that helped UNT offensively was that their PG (#3) who is about 6'1" began to bend over when he took he inbound pass and just dribbled as fast as he could into front court. It made it very hard to trap him and several times he drove into the lane and either kicked it off or he himself went perpendicular to the basket for a soft shot just as he past the basket. We had better success when others brought the ball up and also when we had our late run by moving our pressure all the way to half court.

Not happy with the loss (and the Rhoades clearly showed his displeasure in his post game comments to JP) but still think we can take away the fact that somehow we actually had a chance to tie the game at the end. Yes bad FT shooting by UNT helped but that is why you foul at the end.

Next two games are going to be extremely difficult (especially ODU after their loss to WKU) but as long as we are competitive throughout the game progress can continue.

I wonder if any of the players the staff was looking at for next year but didn't sign because of limits are still available. Also does anyone know the history of early departures from the VCU program from their early years?

Glad he's converted, but if he expects to see the ODU game Thursday, either they're going to have to play the game on the video board or he's going to have to fly to Norfolk.

Weather permitting (chance of wintry mix predicted for the area Thursday), I hope to be able to catch the ODU game in person. I hope the result is better than the last Rice basketball game I saw in person.

Oh dang, it's at ODU. I see the next home game is vs USM on 1/22. Well I'll try to come for that and see if he'll come for that as well.
