Throwing Margison under the bus.

Thing is, Margison does not make that call on his own authority, Ray.

I really wish HCBC would launch a lawsuit regarding false pretenses and fraud and get us Mackin and the others under oath. A decision to kill football prior to HCBC's hiring is the piece of hard evidence we/he needs.
The media and the folks on this board are doing a tremendous job of being relentless. A crime has been committed.

Clark settled his contract after the season. He was paid out his contract in full, including paying every incentive clause as if it had been met. He also bargained for six months pay for all his assistants. In exchange he signed a release from suing UAB over his hire and breach of promise.

Wow! How is it they always escape? I mean, I don't know if I'd been able to turn down all that money if I was Bill Clark either, but geez...that lawsuit could have been the A-bomb we needed on the BOT.

FBHC Clark might have proceeded as we wish had it been only about him. He was forced to consider the plight of his staff and their families as well as his own. Six months severance pay very likely beats what the administration would have voluntarily provided. Dictatorial administrators don't often do the right things out of kindness, but they will to buy self protection.

Winning is the smallest part of why I respect Bill Clark. He felt responsibility for the lives and careers of people he asked to leave good jobs and come with him. Giving up what we want him to do in this case is an act of integrity.

Not to mention did you see what kind of offers Mike Leach got after he sued Texas Tech and ESPN-and he was clearly wronged. Taking this job and suing over it would be a double career killer

I recall the posted opinions about Leach possibly being considered for the UAB job (which I don't think he ever was).

I would bet that the assistants were on a year to year contract. If Clark did not act to protect them they would have been left not only unemployed but not knowing where the next house payment would come from. Clark did the right thing, no matter what we might wish had happened.

RE: Great Article from Whitmire:
Those assistants involved only had about 2 weeks or so left on their contract.

Clark did the right thing as a coach who put his coaches first over other priorities.

Yeah, I get that and I'm not speaking ill of anything he's done thus far. It's just so frustrating to know that everyone who can nail them has to keep their mouths shut.
