That is the bigger end game of this whole encounter for UAB supporters. What kind of premise would the BOT need to dissolve UAB as a separate school all together? That may be THEIR end game.

I still think he's going to try and stay despite any vote of no confidence, but the board is really under too much pressure to allow Dr. Watts to do anything like that. Letting Dr. Watts remain in office would only serve to reflect the true nature of the board and they can't afford any additional bad press going forward when legislation is being put forth.

More than that, planting another agent in the role of president won't work this time. Merely appointing someone and calling it a done day isn't going to fly. After a string of UAB presidents, good and bad, that have all had their fair share of drama, it'd have to be a real process to get someone not only dedicated to all things UAB but also someone with the moral fiber, vision, and integrity to lift up a university.

We have people at the school now I could believe could step in tomorrow and do the job, but, as far as football goes, the board and Dr. Watts are going to stall as long as they can to do as much lasting damage as they possibly can. The longer we go without those teams, the harder it is to reinstate them.

I think since he appears to be squirming pending the vote that it definitely means that he knows that his kingdom is coming to an end.

And then get ready to welcome Malcolm Potera, interim UA-b Pres/Czar. Ray Watts as a hatchet man will make Potera seem like Paul Bunyan.

If heat gets too intense on UAB/BOT, I predict Watts will be forced out and an interim president will be appointed. I doubt that the interim will make any changes in the football program.

Once Watts is forced out, the BOT will buy into the "deliberate-and-try-to-find-consensus" mode that Watts is now proposing. So, BOT will move with very slowly after Watts resigns. There will be a long search for a new president, during which the interim will not make any changes in football, citing his interim status. The longer football stays dead, the harder it is to bring back.

I hate to say it, but we appear to be screwed either way?
