Restaurants
The family and I are coming down for both the Rice and NT games next weekend. Looking for a good list of seafood restaurants in the area. (We frequently hit Captain George's but wanted to try something different).

There was a place in Norfolk, I believe, that served some fantastic crabcakes (huge ones). Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

RE: Restaurants
There use to be a place called A.W. Shucks that was always my favorite. Not sure if it is still there or still as good as it was 5 years ago, but it was somewhere around 21st and Colonial and about a mile or two from the Ted.

Aw shucks is still there and still pretty good.

There are also several decent restaurants on granby or in virginia beach.

Steinhilbers is also still very good in va beach and it's not all the way down at the oceanfront.

One thing is for sure, you definitely have plenty of options.

Btw, one of my all time favorite places is a bar in Hampton called marker 20.

They have the best crab dip in Hampton roads.

Right next to Marker 20 is Conch and Bucket, another solid choice along with Taphouse for beers next door. Now you are talking my territory!

All good choices, though I have not been impressed with Surfrider in 2 visits.

We plan to be a AW Shucks around 5:00 on Thursday before the game. Hope a bunch here can come by and say hello. I'll be the tall guy in the gray ODU hoodie with all of his family wearing the same hoodie.

I like "HK On The Bay" off Shore Drive in Va. Beach. There is also one in Norfolk.

HK on the bay is fantastic. I love that community back there. Reminds me of living in the outer banks.

RE: Restaurants
I'm old VB and live at the ocean front and its pricey but believe Lynhaven fish house is still one of the top seafood restaurants on the east coast. Surfrider Little creek is the best for crab cakes. If you want to eat like a VB local go to Bubba's, Chicks or Dockside (all 3 next to each other) at the foot of the Lesner bridge on the Lynhaven river (shore drive). If you want to be a real local one of my favorites is Margie and Ray's in Sandbridge (its on Sandbridge road before you get to the beach), you wont be disappointed. For the locals in the winter, its $22 for all you can eat all the time.

Everyone has their preferences, but I am not at all impressed with Lynnhaven Fish House. Dockside is very good, and if you want a local flavor without much ambience, try Nicks on 31st St.
