Tree removal service recommendations
Me and the missus are looking to cut down a 60-foot oak tree in our front yard that is growing too close to the house and causing some damage to our front walkway.

Any suggestions on a good licensed/bonded company would be appreciated.

It's no secret I think Woodland is the best. They have cut down two 50-foot trees at separate times for me, and done a bit of other work in my yard. Totally professional, do great work, and leave your yard clean and neat. Licensed/bonded and easy to deal with. The owner has a degree in arborial science.

I like Woodland as well. They usually have excellent prices. I've also used Jones Brothers and been pleased.

I've known Terran for almost 20 years and did not know that.

Had an old friend named Michael Potts that started a successful tree removing service several years ago. I know he works really hard

I have used this guy twice, once to take out a 50 year old Oak that was about 60 feet tall, and another that was about 10 feet from the house and leaning over the roof.

He is a SC fireman and does tree work on his off days. VERY REASONABLE on pricing. I watched his scamper up a tree 5 feet in diameter like a spider monkey...

Butler Tree Service.

I've had one experience with Woodland and wouldn't put them out if they were on fire, my experience was awful.

RE: Tree removal service recommendations
You should get at least 3 or more quotes since this is not an emergency tree removal. I have had several companies quoting prices that varied from seemingly reasonable to outrageous for removal of a 75 foot elm.

If your house faces west and the tree is providing shade during the summer, removing it could have an impact on both cooling cost, and can also have either a positive or negative impact on your landscaping.

Just a thought, have you considered leaving the tree (if it is in good shape) and replacing or repairing the walkway?

Agreed. I had to remove my two west trees because they were dead, but now my deck literally bakes because of the difference in shade/sun.

I had an 85 foot oak come down last spring, fortunately fell harmlessly into the yard, and I found a father/son team who wanted the wood. They cut it up and hauled it off for nothing. Just a thought.
