MAC Hoops "Golf Standings"
My good friends from Oxford ran a thread like this on their message board a few years ago and I always looked forward to it. So as the product of a Miami Merger I will give it a shot over here to see if it catches on. The rules are simple.
A Home win or Road loss is an even Par
A Road win gets you Birdie
A Home loss is a Boogie
We will send out 2 Six-Somes. After one hole here are the standings:
MAC East Division
Bowling Green (-1)
Buffalo (-1)
Akron (E)
Ohio U. (+1)
Kent State (+1)
Miami (+1)
MAC West Division
Central Michigan (-1)
Northern Illinois (-1)
Ball State (-1)
Western Michigan (E)
Toledo (+1)
Eastern Michigan (+1)
Please feel free to make bad golf jokes or express your general displeasure with this thread.

RE: MAC Hoops "Golf Standings"
I think we need to get used to the fact that this season is going to be a grind. For everyone. The MAC is pretty balanced. Maybe as much as I have ever seen in 25 years of following KSU. Every game is going to be a battle. In the end, the most mentally tough teams will get the valuable byes in the conf. tourney. If we can find a way to protect home court better through the end of the season I like our chances.

RE: MAC Hoops "Golf Standings"
I think last night's MACtion is indicative of just that. The Ball State/Western game was a great example (it made sportscenter!), as were the clashes in Kent and Athens.
*Central Michigan puts up 100+
*Kent State continues to play solid defense
*Akron pounds BG for their first conference loss
*Toledo takes one on the road.
It is really too bad that the MAC doesn't have a local TV deal. But, this is a dead horse I guess.

What I don't understand is the past 2 years you could watch any game from the MAC website and that's no longer the case. Seems like we took a step back.

The video this year is awful in just about every way except that we get Ty and Dave doing the pbp. Next year there will be dedicated TV announcers and who knows who that will be.
Hopefully Michael Reghi!

RE: MAC Hoops "Golf Standings"
As far as the regular basketball standings go, Tuesday is a big day in MAC Looking at things from a top 4 only perspective, here is whats on the line for the bottom half of the league;
Ohio University (2-4) @ Eastern Michigan (1-5)
The loser is in trouble. After this game, EMU plays Western Michigan and then goes to Toledo. Ohio University travels to CMU and then hosts Akron. After that, these two play again in Athens. Both seem to have a long road in front of them, the loser of Tuesday's game likely has a very, very long road.
Ball State (2-4) @ Akron (4-2)
Ball State seems to be in trouble. They have lost 4 in a row with two road games this week (at Miami Saturday). Those two are followed by home games with Toledo and Buffalo. If the Cardinals can't split the roadies, it could get ugly fast for BSU. As for Akron, they need to protect home court against Ball State. This game is followed by roadies at BG and Ohio.
Northern Illinois (2-4) @ Bowling Green (4-2)
If the Huskies lose, they are 2-5 with Toledo on the horizon. For BG, this is one of two home games that the Falcons really need to split. The tougher task will be Akron on Saturday.
Miami (2-4) @ Toledo (3-3)
After this one, the Redhawks have back to back home games with Ball State and Northern Illinois. But a loss at Toledo would re-solidify Miami's spot at the bottom.
Bottom line, we could have 5 teams with 5 conference losses by the end of Tuesday. We may have to re-shuffle the six-somes at the turn.
