Keith Butler
Memphis Tiger player in late 70s and linebackers coach during the 90s looks like the next DC in Pittsburgh. Steelers do love Memphis coaches!

He also has a son who was a good player for us on the offensive line some years ago.

He was one of 3 outstanding "Keiths" on the great 1976 team: Keith Butler (LB), Keith Simpson (DB) and Keith Wright (WR). Butler (another example of good Alabama stock) had a brother ("Zacky") who played fullback for us. It was fun to watch them fight during practice every time Keith tackled him. Keith was born to be a head-hunting linebacker, much like Tank Jakes.

It is rumored that the Titans tried to hire Butler last year.

RE: Keith Butler
It is awesome to hear some of those stories. I was born in 1988 so I was vastly unaware. My dad emailed me about the story and talked about Butler playing for the Tigers when he went to UofM. I hope that the Steelers do make him the new DC. He's certainly put in the time in Pittsburgh. It is great to hear Memphis Tigers and their impacts as players, coaches, and "regular" citizens for lack of a better term.

Keith and his brother Zacky were my fraternity brothers. Zacky was a running back.
