The 10-4 Zips just finished crushing Western Michigan. UT rarely gets a home game on national television (7PM, ESPNU). This will be an opportunity to see what this team is made of. Akron lost their star player, Demetrius Treadwell, before the season started, but 6-11 West Virginia transfer Pat Forsythe has filled in well. Hope to see a nice crowd even with the students on break and crappy weather.

It is a shame that the students aren't "technically" back on campus yet for this game...hopefully some of those who remained in town over the holidays will come tonight. If the Rockets show any life/energy above the level they had Monday night, then the crowd needs to reward that effort and hopefully help the Rockets sustain it. A low turnout without much enthusiasm could translate poorly to the team. I'll be there. I want them to show up, too.

FYI - If you've been "sneaking" into the bleacher seats for the first part of this season, they've finally started cracking down and holding those seats for those who bought the $6 tickets. Fan Planners will have to head up to the nosebleeds, not that I'm complaining, it's where our seats are.

RE: Akron Heads to Toledo for ESPNU Contest
Hopefully Coach K has persuaded the guys NOT to take Akron "for granted". The fact that it is a TV game raises the stakes even higher. I was a bit disappointed with the crowd for the CMU game so hopefully it will be better tonight although: 1) it is still break, 2) the weather is still bitter, 3) the loss to CMU probably didn't inspire too many casual fans to venture out to check out the Rockets.

EDIT: The Rockets came to play tonight and once they solved the Akron 3-point scoring, they were able to take charge. The seemed particularly fired up in the second half. Nice crowd as well particularly considering the game was televised and it was cold with the wind blowing.
