You guys will get angry at me for comparing him to a Xavier guy...but he looks the most like a freshman David West before he put on the weight and lost a bit of athleticism.

I'll take it - I always liked David West's game.

I think it's hard to compare Gary because he has a lot of finesse to his game instead of doing just on shear strength. Fortson had a big body and knew how to use it, Hicks was just a beast and outworked everyone else. That's not really how Gary gets it done.

The two plays this year that impressed me the most was the time he got a steal and dunk by tapping the ball around the defender and down the court to himself, he had a similar play I think the next game but I can't exactly recall it.

He also makes some really amazing passes for a big, his vision and handle on the game looks like a guard in a big man's body which is a dream situation as far as I'm concerned.

Love the idea of having him for 4 years.

The benefit of having an undersize big man who blows up

I'd like to see what he's like, if/when he develops a jump shot. He may well become unstoppable if he does that and maybe gets a little greedy about his scoring.

I agree with whoever said Fortson was the best low post scorer ever seen in college basketball. If he got it on the block, he was either scoring two points or going to the foul line. It was amazing to watch him work.

Gary Clark is a completely different guy. He has the athleticism of a Jason Maxiell, but just way more polished of an offensive player. If he develops a mid range jumper, he will more or less be a complete offensive threat. He needs to get the ball more. Way ahead of Max, Hicks, and Kmart as an offensive player when they were frosh. Love to see him add a few pounds but not at the sake of his quickness and agility.

That steal and full court drive for the dunk against SMU was an eye popping play and needs to make the game opening highlight video.

My list of favorites at the time they played:
Van Exel
Burton
Logan
Hicks
SK
Clark

not every UC team/period had a favorite player for me....so this is the short list

That is a great list. I would add maxiell and substitute Leonard Stokes for Burton.

How is Kmart not on that list? He was the best college player in the country his senior year.

i actually think that Max was pretty advanced, but played on some pretty loaded teams early on that he wasn't able to showcase his skills until he was the primary scorer later on. i remember him having a nice turn around baseline jumper and being able to turn over both shoulders. He obviously got bigger while at UC but he arrived pretty well built.

Best low post scorer, please get some perspective. I love him but I think Wilt, Kareem, Bill Walton and many other were far better than Fortson. I think Walton went 13-14 in a championship game. I could go on and on. He was a great player for the Cats but is not in the upper echelon of college basketball stars.

I didn't say it was a 'best bearcats ever' list. I said it was my personal favorites. Loved Kmart but he was never my "favorite". It's a subjective list.

I said best college low post scorer that I watched. my bball watching goes back to early 90s. many better overall players, better scorers even, but his post game was incredible.

Same here Mark, Dejuan Blair brought instant comparisons to Fortson in my mind. Both guys guys had a large rear end and more importantly knew how to use them.

The GM has his focus on Brownsburg, Indiana at the moment. No offer yet. Heavy evaluation process...

I was also referring to what I had seen, specifically in person. And yes DeJuan Blair was very good as well.
