RE: Official Game Thread: Chattanooga
This team is finally returning to Murry form. When will the administrators say enough is enough?

The most disappointing part of this fiasco is the lousy attendance. First place is on the line and a teeny crowd shows up. The region is done with Murry is the only conclusion. You know the history in the days of Robinson.... that place would have been overflowing.

RE: Official Game Thread: Chattanooga
Except for the Bucs almost dropping one to Mercer, and then choking to Chattanooga, I've had odd luck. At Mercer someone picked me to do that stupid halftime putt (no, I wasn't the winner) and then waiting in that awful line tonight, I got saved with free tickets on the floor. My wife and I cheered our asses off with some of the best fellow student fans I've had the privilege to meet. Awesome game, awesome seats, awesome letdown. Noland joined us for a long stretch and told the guys he would have a van paid for to get them to the road games. The man loves ETSU sports. I don't see him or Sander, his guy, letting Bartow slide on anything less than a top 3 finish in conference and post season play.

After VMI someone predicted 22 wins.

I planned on going to the game, but there were about 40 people in the ticket line when I got there minutes before the start. Instead of waiting to buy tickets and miss half the first half, I just turned around and went home.

With an attendance of 3,600, they should be able to handle walkups better.

It was pretty bad. Someone with the authority to do it should have ushered the fans in free. They make their money on season tickets. Can't afford to let people think it's not worth the wait. I completely understand your decision to watch from home.

Hell of a basketball game, but that one hurt. We're the best FT-shooting team in the league and shot 45% from the line. Enough said.

Kudos to the fans for creating a lot of electricity tonight. That felt like a college basketball game.

Go Bucs.

RE: Official Game Thread: Chattanooga
Lets see ETSU hit Free throws at a normal pace, they win.
ETSU hits half the layups they missed they win.
Jalen Riley doesn't have such a horrible game from the field we win.
Any 2 of the 3 happens we win by 10-12 points.

Also Bartow called that shot at the end of the regulation a good shot, a falling down on the move 3, yeah awesome shot. It was tied not sure why that was the play but when
yu are still dribbling the ball at the half court circle with under 4 seconds to go that is what you will get.

Yep - too many missed opportunities.

It's not how you start but how you finish.

Not a good start to the rivalry. Shame that ETSU rivalries have become predicated on losing to a team you can't stand (Belmont, Mercer, now Chattanooga). I already can't stand Chattanooga's coach after the unprofessional celebrating he did immediately before the teams shook hands and parted.

I noticed the line for tickets on my way in and wondered why more people were not using the second ticket window that was open around to the left of the main entrance. Apparently few knew that was an option.

I am thinking that was the will call window.

There's no one directing traffic. They are not prepared for a real crowd. People will learn quick not to go if this issue is let go into the future.

RE: Official Game Thread: Chattanooga
That is true- I know someone who was not able to get in until 20 minutes after the game started due to the line. That is not the way to keep them coming.

As for the game- we clearly could have won. However, UTC has a good team and played us better in their man defense than most teams have this year. With good athletes, a man defense is difficult to play against. They are better than UT, and probably the best team we have played so far this year except for VCU.

UT Beat Butler,
Butler beat Chattanooga 70-48.
UT beat Tennessee Tech
Tech beat Chattanooga
Mercer lost to Georgia in Double OT.
Georgia beat Chattanooga 86-55

Heck Chattanooga lost to Kennesaw. (Who Mercer also beat)
They are a good SoCon team, one I figure along with Wofford, Mercer and hopefully us will be contending for the title BUT
Lets not get crazy with the praise.

This thrills me to no end.... I'm glad Noland is about objectivity. I'm deeply appreciative of his devotion to ETSU. I believe he's a dreamer and he's all about the sky being the limit. I'm sure someplace he has stashed a list of his ETSU objectives and I'm willing to think his hopes are ETSU in national prominence in multiple sports!

RE: Official Game Thread: Chattanooga
That is crazy Rod, that is saying that UT is better than Butler just because they beat them. They are not. Again, I am using the eye test, sometimes the better team loses. Heck, UTC's women beat both the Lady Vols and Stanford this year. They are not better than either of those teams.

I do agree that UTC is only good for a Southern Conference team, not on a national scale. We need to know our conference's place in the pecking order of college basketball. However, we have played a weak schedule and I still say that UTC is better than any team we have played so far other than VCU. We are on the same level, and any given game between us and UTC should be a tossup. Havent seen Wofford yet so I am looking forward to that game for comparison.

I guess I need to stop watching games and worrying who wins or loses, I will just look at team pictures. Do I think Tennessee is a great team? They aren't even that good, would they be the favorite to win the SoCon in basketball? Yeah pretty sure they would be. Best team we have played was VCU by a wide............................ Margin then probably Valpo and then Tennessee then the SoCon. So far everybody I have seen is pretty damn close in the conference.
