Ha, that school of shooting will be filled with Huskies.

Huskies made more shots, more Assists and less turnovers. Kent was 21-27 to NIU's 19-27 from free-throw line.

NIU shot 18% from 3. That's pretty bad and unfortunately not an anomaly. That's what they did wrong. They shot 38% from the floor vs. 46%+ for Kent State, and a lot of those were layups or close shots. We have very few times where they manage to finish the play. They can get to the basket, but most of the time they can't put it in.

Other than that, they looked a little better, and there was some semblance of an offense. Nice alley oops and a reverse jam from Aaric got the crowd into it.

NIU lost by two points. Kent ST made two more free-throws. The difference was free-throws. NIU usually makes more free-throws than the other team shoots. NIU made 22 shots and Kent made 20. Huskies must win 1 of 2 games on the road this coming week. If they don't, the season could go south quickly. It was a huge loss last night!

NIU shot well from FT stripe. Kent State shot a little better but the difference in perimeter shooting between the 2 teams accounted for way more points than that.

007, do you not understand that NIU made more baskets than Kent St? Kent and every team NIU plays makes more 3's than them. But generally the Huskies make more free-throws than the other team. That is how NIU wins and when they don't make more free-throws, they probably will lose.

When you shoot 18% from 3s that's horrible. And the only reason they made more shots is that they took way more shots. They took way more shots because they can't shoot from the outside and they miss 50% of the layups and close-in shots, but they got a bunch of rebounds. Free throws were not the biggest difference.

It's not quite THAT simple. They made other preventable mistakes that cost them (as I mentioned before, the four point play and the taunting technical).

Agreed. Plenty of missed shots, as usual. Again, we missed several short shots and layups under the basket. Just 2 fewer misses and we win the game.

RE: Golden Flashes @ Huskies predictions
Frisky, you r correct. I am just pointing out that NIU wins if the free-throws go the way they normally do. The other team always makes more 3's. It doesn't matter why NIU made more shots. The four point play was what saved Kent. The Huskies are fourth in the nation in amount of scoring coming from free-throws. We all know they are going to shoot bad, but the free-throw line is why they have won more than they have lost. It wasn't a bad loss, just won you couldn't afford. This time next week they may be 1-3 instead of 2-2 and that's a big difference.

It stuns me that teams foul NIU so much. I'd let the Huskies shoot all day. It's not easy to draw fouls so a lot of credit goes to the Huskies and the staff. Get points any way you can.

Oh yeah. Quite loud for just 1,058 fans. There were a couple frats there who helped the crowd get going. There was even a red-black chant between them.

I worked a couple of the DeKalb-Sycamore and other high school games at the Convo and that place can get very loud.

+1000
Orris should have to shoot 300 outside shots a day.
Chuks needs to shoot free throws at a 75 % clip from the line in practice or he can't leave the court.

I can't wait for the next home game. The band will be back and hopefully students. The students really help get the crowd into it. We all need you. Please come out and support this team.
