Wow, talk about two completely different fan bases. I've never seen a sober LSU fan on gameday and I've never seen a drunk BYU fan, well, ever.

I've seen both, but not many of either.

My LSU wife said it will all even out just fine at the BYU game.

I get disappointed every time they bring in a team from elsewhere to play LSU such as Wisconsin or BYU. I want Rice to play LSU again even if it is in NRG. I remember back when the home and home against LSU was a tradition.

One of my first sports impressions at Rice was the influx of LSU fans' motorhomes into the stadium parking lot the Wednesday or Thursday before our Saturday game in 1966, my freshman year. The bon temps rolled and flowed quite vigorously out there. And we won on Saturday night, 17-15 in front of 63,000 fans!

I was there too, as a weenie (with those blue-vested uniform Rice freshmen were then forced to bear); pulled a tiger hat off a Cajun’s head and ran the concourse from their side to our student section…barely made it! Tossed the hat back to my pursuer and lived to tell the tale.

That was my freshman year as well. I was in the Rice band, which at the time was a more or less conventional marching band. I think we had about 80 people in the band while LSU had 300+.
