I know it's early, but just want to get the Monarch Fans to start thinking about the conference tournaments in Birmingham. First it's derivable for most fans about an 10-1/2hr drive from the 757 and gas is cheap. Hotels are not too bad, lot of options under $120/nt, many have refundable bookings. Ticket packages for all games start from $100 baseline to $250 Prem, single game is a good option for those just wanting to catch the ODU games. The Lady Monarchs are also playing in Birmingham during the same days and they are sitting with a RPI of 100 just behind WKU and MTSU.

Let's have a good showing and watch the Monarchs bunch their ticket.

If any UAB fans have info on places to eat and things to do, that would be great.

Looks like a 10.5 hour drive according to Google. Too much for me personally. Wish it was in Charlotte, or even better, here.

I don't think the double bye is in play this year. I want to say it was last year, but this year it looks like It is the same format as the CAA tournaments.

Top 4 get a bye to Thursday, then play hopefully through Saturday. You kind of said that but mentioned double bye. Now, my source is hearing from a buddy and Wikipedia, so I could be wrong, I can't seem to find any confirmation on the CUSA Website.

Hopefully we get Pillow Fight Wednesday off and start on Thursday. Hoping to make the trip!

Edit: The official dates point to a 4 day tourny, so the double bye would not be in effect and it looks like the last 2 teams will not make the tournament.

Very quick kayak search of flights says $311. Not bad at all.

I plan on going down for the whole week. My Brother lives there so I got a place to stay. I got an email from ODU about the tournament tickets and it said they were $180 for all sessions. That's a bit steep for a whole tournament in my opinion. The double round bye is not in place. The bottom two teams in the conference will not make the field. The top four seeds get a bye and begin play on the Thursday of that week. Semifinals are on Friday and Finals are on Saturday at noon.

What we called Pillow Fight Friday (CAA) is Pillow Fight Wednesday for the C-USA.

probably so because C-USA is on central time anyway.

such a weird time to have it, but I guess if you want to have it on TV that same weekend you have a lot of competition.

RE: CUSA BB Tourney
The way I read the pricing. $180 is for both the men's and women's games. If true the price isn't that bad. I can't remember how much the CAA tourney prices just for the men's tourney were but it think it was around $110???

We're using airline points ot fly to B'ham. It most not be a popular flight...only cost 20,000 points! When I first looked at Southwest and the price would have been around $280 but they will discontinue service to BHM March 1sr. Now it says no flights March 10 or 11.....not that the flights are full....just no flights.

I think the $110 was the last CAA tourney we bought those club section seats. Also, we have to account for the discount for having to play at the Brown Dump!!

If you have a good relationship with enterprise they will allow you unlimited miles on a regular rental. I once drove to Alabama unlimited with them.

I wish I could afford to go. Could probably pay for one of the other. Could pay for tickets but not a hotel or visa versa. haha

The biggest issue with the timing of the CUSA Tournament is if you go, then, you have to turn around and go to the Big Dance less than a week later. That's really tough. For everything that was wrong with the CAA, as a fan, I didn't mind having 10 days off to plan for the NCAAs.

It is a double edged sword. More time to prepare, but also more time to fall out of cohesiveness and lose momentum.

It's double-edged for the team, certainly. As a fan, the more time you have to get your business in order, the better.

Very true 04-cheers

Of course, Selection Sunday stays the same so no matter what happens, by the time we find out where and when we are playing, we have anywhere from 3 to 5 days depending of if we are Wednesday night in Dayton, a Friday night matchup wherever, or somewhere in between. Here is to hoping we end up in Pittsburgh or Charlotte. I selfishly prefer Pittsburgh because my parents have a condo that way so I won't have to pay for lodging!
