Untapped was one of the coolest events in a while. I'm hopeful that, with the influx of breweries, that we can have something similar again soon. That place was a blast.

Absolutely no reason why that concept wouldn't work in a number of different locations. There are a lot of really cool, under-utilized potential venues for an event the size of Untapped in Memphis. Personally I'd love to see it tried at the Overton Park golf course clubhouse. Maybe that would breath a little life back into the golf course. Or if it is structurally possible, it'd be cool if they could do it in the New Orleans style hotel at Madison and Cooper. Maybe it would spur on someone to do something with it like it did with the brewery.

I think doing something of this nature at the old French Quarter is a no-brainer, but if I'm not mistaken the owner of the Madison has plans to do something hotel-wise with it, which is needed as well.

I love the Overton Park Golf Clubhouse. It is such a cool old building. I believe that it originally had living quarters upstairs.

Keep hearing talk about putting a boutique hotel there. Not sure if they want to repurpose the existing building or raze it and start from scratch.

Good. That building has no historical or architectural significance. It looks like it was built on the cheap.

Agreed..... Raze the thing. A hotel is badly needed in that area.

We do stay-cation weekends here and look for cool little areas to stay in. Midtown is the one area of town with nowhere to stay where you can walk to dinner, movies, parks, etc. Between that vacant building and the building at the corner of Union and McLean, you have two prime hotel locations that sit empty.

RE: Tennessee Brewery update
its a physical and financial mess. theres a reason its been left to rot. the NIBY's infesting that area need to back off a little too. between cooper-young, overton square and rhodes college, a well-done appropriately sized nationally branded hotel would be a great success, there are just a lot of obstacles in the way.
