RE: Jameis Winston Gone to the NFL
I don't see him being a successful NFL QB. He will have flashes, but I think his ten cent head slows down or kills his career.

Has all the physical talent in the world...but his off the field actions leave A LOT TO BE DESIRED.

The rumor I've heard is that the Tampa Bucs will draft him and Derrick Brooks will mentor him, live with with him early on, etc.

Talked to a few scouts and the most apt on-field NFL QB comparison they bought into for Jameis Winston's skills is Ben Roethlisberger.

Jameis Winston Gone to the NFL
As a Titans fan, I hope we don't draft him. I'm on the Mettenburger bandwagon. I think he will end up a stud. We need help in just about every position.

As a Cleveland fan, I am hoping he falls to us. I can just imagine the money flowing into the bars and clubs downtown with Johnny football, Josh Gordon, and Jameis on board.

RE: Jameis Winston Gone to the NFL
I think he will be the best quarterback in this class. Granted you cannot discount the off the field stuff, you certainly cannot, but if you assume that the lack of even a charge on the sexual assault case means he was innocent, then it really changes the outlook on him. Now all of his actual transgressions have been relatively minor silly stuff - high profile, but minor, stupid stuff like water guns, torrets like outburst in public places, and stealing crab legs and soda. Not even as bad as Johnny Manziel really in the immaturity dept. And not any worse than many position players who were drafted high. It really boils down to what you believe about what happened than night.

RE: Jameis Winston Gone to the NFL
He won't get past 10, probably much sooner. Someone will take a chance.

By the way, remember how no one would touch Seantrel Henderson last year. Many said he had early round talent but off-field issues were big. He fell to the Bills in the 7th round.

It has been reported that the Bills told him he had one chance.

All he did was play every snap at right tackle this season.

Could he implode this off season? Sure. But maybe he'll be the exception.

RE: Jameis Winston Gone to the NFL
Marcus Mariota might have something to say about the "best QB" in the draft class if he comes out.

But it's a weak QB class IMO, so being the best of the class isn't say much, even if true.

Mariotta , Winston, Hudley

Then there's everyone else.

If the off the field issues were the same, it'd be Winston 100000 times over Mariota- and it's not even remotely close. I think on the field, Winston is the prototype of the QB of the future.

Well MAriota is the prototype of what people thought were going to be the future of quarterbacks. I think he is more of a throwback, and the comparisons to a young Ben Roethlisberger are accurate: he's a big pocket passer, who has some mobility, but don't confuse his athleticism with an Andrew Luck, Aaron Rodgers, Kapernick, or Wilson. He's not there. But he is athletic enough to make you miss. Like Big Ben was early. Like Brett Favre was. Like John Elway was.

Not to say he can become him, but he has a lot of skills comparable to Steve Young or Steve McNair, who were both similar in physical stature and skill set. Well Young was not as big as Winston is, but comparatively speaking he had a size advantage (bulk) over a lot contemporary QB's.

RE: Jameis Winston Gone to the NFL
I don't discount his talent, or the fact that he will be a top 10 draft pick. The kid can win, and he did it at a high level. He has most of the tools.

I just have a pause about him. Kind of like when Ryan Leaf came out. Something about him just doesn't sit right.

I hope the kid has a great career. I don't discount with that kind of attention (media, girls, BMOC) that I wouldn't have done stupid things either at that age.

I am happy my NFL team won't be drafting him.

Winston's potential upside is Brett Favre: Lots of big plays, but also lots of interceptions.

His potential downside, of course, is Ryan Leaf or JaMarcus Russell.

I don't recall Manziel stealing anything or saying something really inflammatory while he was under criminal investigation.

He's different than Leaf. Winston seems willing to work. He just makes really bad decisions off the field. Do you really want to pay a 1st draft pick and then suspend him like Ray Rice?
