Patriots v Redcoats does have some promise as a rivalry renewed.

I guess America's Team vs Europe's Team would be ok too.

Replace Las Vegas with San Antonio. The Canadian city...let's see.... The Vancouver Blizzards?

Too close to Seattle and Vancouver doesn't really get that much snow FWIW. Toronto has a lot of Bills fans.
The best bet in Canada would be Calgary IMO.

I forgot to mention with this plan, you play

everybody in own division once (5 games a year total)

everybody in sister division (NFC east=AFC east, etc) once every 2 years (3 games a year total)

Everybody in same conference, but not in same division, once every 2 years (6 games a year total)

Everybody in other conference, and not in sister division, once every 6 years (2 games a year total)

Is this with or without the Rams moving to Los Angeles? (I'm assuming "without" at the moment?).

My one big move would break up the AFC North by moving Pittsburgh to the East, and dropping Dallas into the South.

East - NE, Buff, Carolina, NYJ, London, Philly, NYG, Wash, Pitt

South - Indy, Houston, Jax, Tennessee, Miami, New Orleans, Atlanta, Dallas, Tampa Bay

North - Cincinnati, Cleveland, Balt, St. L, GB, Det, Minn, Chicago, Canadian team

West - Denver, KC, SD, Oakland, Seattle, Arizona, SF, Las Vegas, Los Angeles

=============
If you're replacing St. Louis with Los Angeles, then I'd move:

North - Cincinnati, Cleveland, Balt, Seattle, GB, Det, Minn, Chicago, Canadian team
West - Denver, KC, SD, Oakland, Mexico City, Arizona, SF, Las Vegas, Los Angeles

Calgary is too small for a NFL or MLB franchise.

Toronto would be the first choice for a Canadian NFL team by a large margin.

AFC East
NE, NYJ, Buf, Mia, Jax, London

AFC Central
Cle, Cincy, Pitt, Balt, Tenn, Toronto

AFC west
SD, Oak, Den, KC, Sea, Hou

NFC east
NYG, Philly, Wash, Car, Atl, Tampa

NFC central
Minn, GB, Det, Chi, Indy, STL

NFC west
SF, LA, PHX, LV, Dal, NO

I forgot about the original post-merger setup, that would work brilliantly. But let a team (or two) move to LA and instead, expand to San Antonio. Here's my setup under such a scenario:

AFC East
NE, NYJ, Buf, Mia, Jax, Indy

AFC Central
Cle, Cincy, Pitt, Balt, Tenn, Hou.

AFC west
LA Chargers, Oak, Den, KC, LV, SA

NFC east
NYG, Philly, Wash, Dal, London, Toronto

NFC central
Minn, GB, Det, Chi, Tampa, Car

NFC west
SF, AZ, Sea, Atl., NO, LA Rams

-------

Notice I've moved two teams to LA. I reunited some former division mates from under the old format and made some, I feel, corrections (you had Dallas in the west? Never gonna happen unless the Eagles, Giants and Redskins fold).

I will say that I like you putting Seattle back in the AFC but they've made new friends so to speak, so they don't need to go back.

Alternatively, if the Raiders move to San Antonio and thus you still give a team to LA (I'll say San Diego stays):

AFC East
NE, NYJ, Buf, Mia, Jax, Indy

AFC Central
Cle, Cincy, Pitt, Balt, Tenn, Hou.

AFC west
SD, SA Raiders, Den, KC, LV, LA exp.

NFC east
NYG, Philly, Wash, Dal, London, Toronto

NFC central
Minn, GB, Det, Chi, Tampa, Car

NFC west
SF, AZ, Sea, Atl., NO, LA Rams

Somehow I think that the NFL likes the idea of four team divisions, which keep a lot more cities in the running for the playoffs deep into the season. Adding four teams and moving to six divisions of six teams each means a lot more teams will be eliminated early. I don't think they would like that. No matter what the voices in John's head are telling him.

I am not sure the NFL likes 7-9 teams winning their divisions. If you have at least 6 teams in a division, the odds of that happening go way down. If they go to a 9 team division, then you will always have a good team winning the division. If you still have 12 teams making the playoffs, thats enough to keep fans interested.
