You're right 82. Dylan looked good tonight. Our guys never quit and it made the difference! I shouldn't have given Freddie such a hard time because he's been awesome all year. This is a fun team!!

RE: Delaware
Wow. Talk about some cardiac Hawks right there.

We should have blown them out, but a win is a win. Especially coming back from being down like that with less than a minute to go.

Well done.

Also, I've been a bit critical of Sherwood before but I want to take this opportunity to thank him for putting his heart on the floor out there and putting the W in UNCW. That guy went balls to the wall at the end and that was huge.

I also agree, that when a team like Delaware switches to the zone (other teams may be more effective) Sherwood needs to be on the floor due to his longer range. Once he gets hot then he can pump fake, make a move to close the distance to the bucket or kick it out to another defender that comes in on the help defense. Either way, his shot creates for UNCW against a zone.

Well done fellas, and gear up for Drexel!

Spot on. Does anyone know if Coach Keatts sends emails out to the students to encourage attendance?

This team is like Jeckle and Hyde. They tend to lose that level of intensity right in the middle of the game. But, to their credit, they never gave up.

RE: Delaware
This game may have saved the season. Wow! I'm so happy that we actually won that game. Their PG was one of the few guys that has caused fits for Talley. Talley did have 4 steals though. This game should give the team the confidence now to win close games. Craig was CLUTCH!! He made some TO's but really stepped up tonight. We just couldn't hit the big shot to put them away and we should have. Give them credit though, they played a good game against a better UNCW team tonight. Delaware does have talent albeit young for the most part. They hit some clutch 3's and shots that would have beaten many a team tonight but the Hawks prevailed. Still, the Hawks should have put this game away much earlier.

Yep, hopefully at least some of the off-campus students will make it Saturday night.

This Monday. Sweet baby Jesus that's some time off right there. Has it always been like that, or have I been a member of productive society so long I forgot what it's like to have mommy drop me off at school again?

So long Monte Ross. Tonight's stop on your farewell tour was your final game at Trask Coliseum. I'd say what I really think about him but I'll instead simply let you all watch his final post-game press conference.

What a game. It has been a long time since I have witnessed such a comeback by the Hawks. Certainly not under the last two coaches. Being 6 points down with 40 seconds left in regulation I just did not think we could do it. BUT those guys dug deeper than anyone has in a long time in Trask and pulled it out. Absolutely fantastic effort and guts by the Hawks. This is one that we will talk about for a while. Tonight's effort was what good teams put out when not playing exceptionally well. Great job in the clutch guys - bring on drexel!

That interaction between the coach and his players that you pick up on in that post game presser is awesome. I know it came after a win, so morale is high and what not, but you can really see there's a trust between them and almost get a tangible feeling that these guys are buying in, and most importantly really believing in each other and themselves.

Great job guys. Can't wait for Saturday!

As a current student that has attended the games religiously since his freshman year, I agree that more students need to go but you cannot blame us for not going. The product that was on the floor for the two years prior, was not worth attending. I went to the games and often found myself being one of maybe 30 students. I have noticed more students coming to the games this year and most of us were not in town for this game which could lead to lower attendance, and most students will not come back until the day before classes start.

The student body is willing to support the student athletes. We showed up to the soccer games and created great atmospheres, but the soccer team also has performed well the past couple of seasons. Volleyball games were even well attended but that is because they have been doing well in the past. If they want kids to go they need to perform well, sad but true.

I'm with you 716. I was in your shoes as a student and completely understand. Honestly, not sure what the student atmosphere is like for soccer games these days but prior to my graduation in '06 there were often times when I was one of about 20 students to attend those games, tops. Unless it was a big time school coming to play like Carolina or something. The larger non-conference schools always drew the most students.

To be fair, I'm not blaming the students. I was just wondering if Coach Keatts sends out emails prior to the games urging student attendance. Back in the early 2000s we had Trask rocking and created havoc on other teams due to the noise level in that wonderful coliseum. It can get there again. We just need people in there. More wins will indeed get more students there. Unfortunately, lax sports fans are often a "what have you done for me lately" crowd. I can assure you that as serious as a sports fan as you sound, you'll look back on these days and really enjoy the fact that you had the time and opportunity to attend the games. Enjoy and give the visitors a little hell for me!

I can tell you that Coach Keatts has not sent out any e-mails to the students but he does interact with us on campus. I've had the opportunity to run into him a few times and he seems like a stand up guy. The marketing department has done a much better job this year letting students know when the games are via social media, mainly twitter and instagram, and also signs around campus that say Game Day on them and the sport. The soccer team was able to generate big crowds via social media. When Carolina came into town it was hyped up for a week with the has tag #Break2kTuesday in an attempt to break the attendance record, and for the tournament game they did similar things. It worked. I think with time attendance will grow, but the community has been showing up in much larger numbers than last year. The program is going in the right direction

That's great to hear. I hate how old this makes me sound, but I graduated before the age of the iPhone. That's almost painful to stomach. I'm glad to hear UNCW is taking advantage of social media and keeping students involved.

Does anyone else remember the emails from Coach B?

Youve been on the boat too long. Kids don't use email anymore. A good idea would be for the athletic department to send out text alerts before and big home game and after a win. Tell students they can enter to win a prize of they sign up for seahawk athletics text alert. Great way to market at little cost

This is why I keep you around. Like once every four or five years you have a half-decent idea. It's too bad your ping pong skills are so awful that it makes me want to regurgitate a bag of rusty nails, but I guess I can't have everything I want.

P.S. Anything over 65 feet long is a SHIP. Any vessel below 65 feet in length is a boat. I'm on ships, or "Cutters" as we call them in the Coast Guard, dating back to our days as the Revenue Cutter Service commissioned by the great Sec. Alexander Hamilton in 1792.
