Not like this guy was 13th on the roster...my gut says he was told he was not going to get his red shirt 5th year here at UC despite having open scholarships and he flipped them the bird which would be totally understandable in my mind.

I also agree. It's a shame regardless that both sides didn't make this happen. Say what you will but the kid was part of 3 NCAA teams not including this one.

I thought there was a NCAA rule against that. You can only do that once, so if he transfers to another school, he wouldn't be able to do that. Not 100% sure, but I thought that was the case.

RE: Guyn!!
I could be wrong but I can't imagine that is a rule. Lots of players xfer for that 5th year. Would seem strange saying they could not do senior day pregame events at their original school.

RE: Guyn!!
I'm guessing there is more to the Guyn story than we know. I do hope he gets his degree and transfers somewhere to start his master's and get his final year of eligibility. He was solid player for the red and black, part of 3 tourney teams, obviously took care of his academics and deserves only the best moving forward.

There has to be more to the story. An injured player would continue to be a part of the team and sit with the team during games.

RE: Guyn!!
FWIW someone told me Gelawn stopped coming around the team because he said it was too hard for him to watch and know there was nothing he could do to help. I was told this in January.

So Guyn has been rumored to have interest in transferring to ETSU. What can you all tell us about him?

Familiar with the shooting story already...beyond that what else can you tell us about his time at Cincinnati?

Good kid. Unremarkable basketball career.

Missed all but three games last year with a finger injury. The season before that, he hit some timely threes, but has never shot at a high percent from the outside. Pretty physically strong for a guard--wish he would have used that to his advantage more on the offensive end and had been more aggressive at getting into the lane. Very solid on the defensive end. Limited offensively, but was a nice defensive role player while at UC. Like Billy_Bearcat said, seems like a good kid, too. A Xavier friend of mine always remarked he liked how Guyn would always sprint over and be the first player to help a teammate up off the floor. Something small, but always thought it was a nice compliment, especially from a Xavier fan, to show what kind of teammate Guyn seemed to be.

i've heard good things about johnson city. need to make it down some time. tennessee is vastly underrated. you're going to get a committed player. he did start for a few years but never was going to get any significant time. he never turned out to be a diamond in the rough, but he wasn't a waste of a scholarship. i admit that probably isn't very flattering to hear. such as; lush. has the ability to contribute to internet message boards, but won't be missed. ever
